29th - We got up and had no hurry. We ordered a taxi to pick us up at 11.30. And after half an hour of bumping driving up and down we arrived at Sandy Bay Bungalow (same island) resort where we had booked a room with a little more space than previous. But still it was straight on the beach and further more this time also a pool. So after check in relax on the beach and in the pool.
30-31st - the intention was not to do much at Sandy Bay besides enjoying the water either from the beach or in the pool. These two days we also experienced very heavy rain but that could not stop us from going in to the pool.
Since we had already booked room from 1st of Feb on Koh Lanta which is an island south of the famous Phuket we booked the transportation as soon as we arrived at Sandy Bay.
1st Feb - travelling time we had to get up early 5.45 am as a taxi would take us to the pier at 6.30am. A catamaran ferry would leave at 7.15am. First the ferry then mini van, then ordinary busline back to minivan and after sailing with two small "car ferries" we finally arrived around 6.15pm at Lanta Nature beach resort so basically a 12 hours tour and there were hardly any complaints from the kids. They did very well. No savings that evening from the dinner menu.
2nd & 3rd - the room is nice so we decided already in the morning to book one more day so at this time we are supposed to check out Monday 6th. We are still trying to find a resort on Phi Phi Don island. However it is a very famous place so maybe this should have been booked from home. Both days were spent on the beach. Compared to the last two resorts on Koh Phangan the location of our room is not in the first row. We have to walk at least 40-50m to get to the beach. 3rd we also decided to book a new snorkelling tour after all three of the kids wanted to try that again.
4th - we got up and were ready to be picked up at 8.30am. The wind was a little hard from the morning so mums face already looked worried before breakfast. The longtail boat was to pick us up from the beach, however they changed plans and drove us further down south where it was waiting at another beach. We had booked it just for us it costs a little bit more but then we are not depended on anyone. There is no doubt that it was a rough ride to the first snorkelling place but apart from it was a magnificent day. Again we went to two very nice places for snorkelling furthermore the weather changed for the better the sun came through and the wind slowed down a little bit. After these two places they took us to a hidden cave where we had to swim app 100m in a kind of a tunnel with only 1-2m space from the water to the rock on top of you. For about 20-30m it was completely dark so a good thing the guide that was with us had a flashlight with him. When we came through it was a beautiful place but also a little bit cold eventhough the sun was there as well. Last place was a beautiful beach where we had lunch where we afterwards also could take a swim or do some snorkelling. We then had a nice relaxing tour back to the bay from where we took off in the morning. Finally they drove us back to our resort, what a terrific day. Back at the resort Pernille and I went across the road to ask if they could help us find a place on Phi Phi Don island. We succeded and booked a place for 3 nights from Friday 10th to Monday 13th. We then went back and booked our current room for 4 more nights. We had to spent more for the room on Phi Phi but we have heard so much about the island and wanted to stay there.
5th - just a relaxing day at the beach and where I also had the tour to Phi Phi Don island booked. I then asked him if we could rent a tjuk tjuk for the family beacause we wanted to take a tour round the island. He was very honest with me and advised me not to. When I walked cross the road to the resort I asked one of the tjuk tjuk taxi drivers if he could take around for a whole day. No problem 1500THB (50-60USD) and we agreed for him to be there next day at 10am.
6th - turned out to be a very interesting day. The driver picked us up as agreed (good start). We wanted to go south to a place where there was a waterfall. Apart from being a bumpy road in some places it also went up and down hill. Unfortunately sometimes so much so Pernille and I had to go off and walk. We even experienced one hill where I had to push the tjuk tjuk with him and the kids to get it to the top. We never really found the waterfall but had a nice walk in a forrest which was a little bit like the last walk we had on Koh Phangan. This time I only had to carry Asta 40m downhill. We decided to have him drive us back north again and up to pier where the main town on the island is. We did not have to walk/push too many times as we found out that if I moved and sat just behind him uphill the weight balance was better and the tjuk tjuk performed better. This until on the middle of a hill where the chain then suddently went off. We all 5 had to get off and wait for 10 min. Meanwhile he rolled downhill found a place where he could put the chain back on again and then came back. We came to Saladan town at the pier. Here we stopped for an hour and had lunch. After this we went south again but this time on the East side of Lanta down to Lanta Old Town where we stopped for walk. We then decided to go back to our resort. Maybe I should mention that from we passed our resort on the way from the south on the west coast to the pier and further on to Lanta Old Town we only stopped once because of the chain problem. From the old town and back to our resort we had to get off once because of uphill. This because we went cross Lanta and did not have to go all the way around the pier again. Back at the resort again we relaxed some at the beach the rest in our room. Before dinner we had a nice photo taken of all five of us watching sundown.
