Hi all,
So it's my last day in South America today and if I'm honest although I have loved it, I'm ready to move on. I think it's because although I have thought Rio has been great you can feel the edge to it so you can not totally relax and enjoy it. So I know no where is safe but I know I will feel more at ease once in LA.
Yesterday, I went to Sugar Loaf which was amazing and the sun was shining which made it even better. The views over the city were stunning. I wish I had the same for Christ the Redeemer but can't have it all. In the afternoon, I met up with the other girls and we walked to Ipanema Beach. Some say Ipanema is better than Copacabana and maybe it's because by this time the sun had gone in but I think I preferred Copacabana.
After that I went to the mall to buy another bag as I have bought too many haviannas and brought too many shoes in the first place. Quite frankly though, the combination of a rucksack and my packing habits was never going to work. It's only small and is cheap so I can sort myself out in LA.
In the evening, I went to an Irish pub in Ipanema called Shennigans. It's a total travellers haunt but it's better being there than being somewhere with the scary locals. This place also does the best Capivodkas (I can't drink the proper ones - they are too strong) I've had on the whole trip.
I've checked out of my hotel now and am heading to the beach for a little bit to make the most of the sun while it's shining and will probably go for lunch with the others to say goodbye. Then my taxi picks me up at 4pm and I go to LA and hopefully some sunshine. I'm so excited!
Much love,
P.xxx.
