Today was a full day in Florance starting with a leather demonstration which Jen and I decided to skip and instead got ou first Italian coffee - OMG. Amazing. Perfect. We wandered around a little bit then headed back to meet the group for our free walking tour. This was for an hour and took us all along the river and the bridges and finished outside a massive church. From there we walked to the Acedamia museum which holds a lot of Michelangelo's work including the famous David statue. Annoyingly, this line was over 2 hours long and we had to be back at the hotel in time for dinner. This was the same for every other gallery but many of the famous pieces have replicas in the main square or around town so we just used our imaginations.
From there we caught a cab from the city back to the hotel with Jess, another girl from Adelaide. Got read for dinner which was a beautiful Tuscan meal set in the middle of nowhere and was just lovely. We got champagne on arrival at this place which was old fashioned with gardens and fountains. Dinner was about 6 courses- all yummy food accompanied by champagne and Tuscan wine. Soon we were all dancing to the macerina and the chicken dance before getting back on the bus and out to a 'Space Electronic Disco' in the city. Again, we were given one free drink and one free shot here then had the night to dance. It was great music and a great atmosphere, except that 14 year olds are allowed out so we all had kids trying to crack on to us and then talking to these 4 year old girls who had to go to school th next day!! Crazy! A big group of us got a cab home at about 3am. We didn't have to do anything except tell the security cards that we were with Lara (they were immediately more helpful and nice) and they bargained a cab price for us and told the driver where we were staying. It was straight to sleep as we were off the nest morning.
