Have found some notes I made I thought had lost so here is the rest of our experiences in Thailand...hooray!!
On the Chaweng beach in Koh Samui we discovered that the "thing" to do was lay on the beach all day, and when that got to be a bit too much like hard work, then go for a Thai massage at one of the many huts along the beach where Thai ladies sit and shout at you "maaaasssssaaggee" when you walk past. Its quite entertaining! So we went for a massage which cost 6 pounds for both of us. We got pounded & kneaded & pounded & ground into & pounded a bit more, but it was so lovely how utterly relaxed we felt afterwards. Well worth it!
Now as some of you are aware gaining "company" for a day or an evening in Thailand is not hard to come by. You often see ladies waiting in groups in a bar ready to proposition any man who walks in! So Pete in his wisdom decided he was inquisitive enough to try and find out how much this would cost! So walks past a bar one evening really slowly looking at a group of ladies, when one of them shouts at him "sexy lady, licky d***y!" I have never seen him move so quickly! So funny! I think that put him off good enough!
Once we moved up to Bang Rak beach - which I must say was so much nicer than Chaweng beach. It was cleaner & quieter. We decided to fly back to Bangkok and got quite a good deal from one travel agent. We took a ferry over to Donsak, a bus to Surithani & then four hours later got a plane back to Bangkok. One thing we realised we did get ripped off on was the original transfers from Bangkok airport to our hotel when we first arrived. We prebooked these for 16 pounds, but the taxi we took this time only cost us 3pounds!
Once back in Bangkok we stayed at a cheaper hotel than last time, and it showed. It was reasonably clean, but the swimming pool was a death trap! Tiles falling off, loose wires hanging out from where lights had once been, not good! The hotel had a bar which advertised "buy three beers & get one". I think it was a translation error & should have read - get one free!
On the last night we ate in a "cook your own food" restaurant which was loads of fun. You got a platter of raw meat & fish, raw noodles & raw uncut veggies. So meat goes on the grill bit & noodles & vegies - once you have ripped them into smaller bits - go into the hot water surrounding the grill! We got all sorts of goodies - fish, crab claws, prawns, duck, squid, pork, chicken, cabbage, strange leafy things & carrots! It was really nice.
So thats all from Thailand, next stop Taiwan.
