On the road early again with the aim of getting to Airlie Beach tonight. Got in the wrong lane at Sarina, a sugar cane town, and ended up at Sarina Beach, a lovely quiet spot with a long beach. We seemed to be the only tourists there, presumably no one else missed the turn off! Had a short walk on the beach then grabbed a coffee and sat at a picnic table and booked our next stop at Airlie Beach. (How did we ever do anything before the internet?) Road went via Mt Ossa (another one) and past beautiful green hills and lots of sugar cane. Had lunch at a truck stop along the way. Scenery had a Tassie feel about it. Then on to Airlie Beach (which now is like Queenstown, NZ) and our park almost in Shute Harbour.
Very tropical feel, lots of palm trees and insects that make noises at night like Cicadas. Sites a bit close together but our neighbours are nice and friendly so should be ok. Just met a couple wandering through the park looking for their site in the dark without success. Lisa offered to help and it turned out their taxi driver had dropped them at the WRONG park! We gave them a lift to what they thought was the correct one (they had been on an island boat trip all day and seemed disoriented!) Hopefully they are ok now as we have returned to our park for chuckle time!

Chris Waller Sounds great! I bet you are missing the cold and dark of Tassie in winter! Snow forecast yesterday but nothing happened. Just chilly.
