Sophie And Tami Were Here
Monday 7th May
Journal entry brought to you by Tami
Today was lame when compared to how awesome yesterday was. We just didn't do anything. We travelled in the morning to Te Puia Thermal area, where some people paid money to go and look at some hot springs. Then other people (including Sophie) went up to the Redwood Forest to have a walk. I really wanted to do this, but my camera memory card was absolutely choc a block, and Buzz told me that if I didn't clear it here, I wouldn't get another chance before Taupo, so I really had to do it. Grr. Damn cameras. Anyway Stephen was also not going to either of the afore mentioned walks, so he and I went in search of a camera shop, and found a fantastic bakery along the way! I then went to Kodak, and he went to the internet cafe and we regrouped about 5 minutes later when my card was clean.
We then went for a bush walk through a forest, and took a look at some caves. They were very dark, couldn't see much. Then we headed to our hostel for the night, the Waitomo YHA. Spent a lazy afternoon catching up on my diary, cooking, and chatting to two Newcastlian girls called Kate and Alice, who were awesome. We wanted to go on the Black Abyss through the Waitomo glow worm caves today, but there were only 8 spaces, and Sophie and I, Alice and Kate were all outside the first 8, so had to sign up for tomorrow. Means yet another early start, groan. Went to bed fairly early, there wasn't much to do around the hostel. Yawn.
