so spent at least half an hour explaining my next few days and the flippin comp froze and said something wierd - lost it all!! so this will probs be a much shortened version - whici is probs better!!!
the other travellers arrived - Scott from bramely nr guildford, just finished at loughbrough so in a similar position - plus ending up in chile - so MAY have a travel partner for a bit longer!!
Emma from Calofornia - 19 really nice, easy to chat to wants to expolore so will be good fun!!
Mike who is soo funny (but in a wierd way!!) lol USA 19 - has so much useless info and comes out with it all the time - worse than flipping tom - except that his is all true and actally a bit interesting!!
and Cara -USA 18- (who i keep calling kara - and its pronounced carer!!) who is quite shy but keeps me amused with her spanish - or rather lack of!!
had my first spanish lesson - not very good - had to start from the beginning and no thanks to madre who had me speaking french for some of it!! but it came along a bit through the 4 hours one to one - worse than being in a class with the black swann!no hiding behind anyone in these lessons!! also finidng it hard to prounce ´se´ rather than ´th´harder than you think it would be!!
afternoon had a quick look aroiund new quito agaiin, got a bit better at my bearings but had the others to help!
had spanish again - homework went well-isgh and feel a BIT more competent however am still nn present tense lol!! love it! in the afternoon had the coolest trip to Quito Old town!!
The guide - Fabien - was soo funny ts hard to write it!! seemed to speak to me a lot and kept asking me - WHY? philippa Why?? why no one pray (imaging in SA accent!!) Why your name philippa? why they dont fix this unstable step - which we are all standing on (6ppl) as he points out how nstable the platfrm for the ladder is only on a thin piece of wood and lax piece of wire!! not v. funny!!! he took us p this amazingly tall church - whichi climbed all the way (although we had a lift for most past - so the worst i climbed!!) el duermo in florence was tiny compared!
he obv hated the catholics - cos they take all the monay and dont help the poor - and the congress cos they do NOTHING!! look he does nothing (as one walks down the street!!) as i say VERY funny!
so the old town was fascinating - just hope i remeber it all to you everything - forgetting it already sadly!
in the evening we went to a not so ecuadorian pub - irish with an english - whichi WE WON!!!! although the `rize was free drinks for the night (which id already paid for) and a ´free meal´which turned out to be a free starter and drink when we bought a main! but it was fun! although i have had to have a few beers as not tried the wine and the spirits are v. exp for Quito!!
had mt third spanish lesson and my teacher - anabel - seems VERY optomistic NOW!! lol although im still not!!
met a new englishman - Chris - who is 18 - very talkative - nice but talks a lot! if you get what i mean!! he is from suffolk!!
so now wednesday "quick" stop to write an email or teo - and blog and then find some lunch
ooh must also say how good this hostel, they cook (although cooking is inc in the price but still!!) clean and even cean our rooms and make our beds!! uits amazing!!
anyhoo - you´re probs all bored tocstiff - just think this is a quickie as well lol - so look forward to more(and yes i will do tests when im back!!)
