Word up fools.
We left Croatia for Bibione in N Italy to chill out for a week. We stayed in a campsite called Lido which is Italy's equivalent of Butlins. They had this happy disco where they played the exact same s*** holiday songs every night (we know them all off by heart now).
We were laid out on the beach one day and they had this 5 a side beach football tournament going on. I went up to the organiser and asked how to get involved, he told me I needed 4 other players. There was another lad there who also wanted to play. So me and him found 3 other blokes and we had a team made up of 2 Italians, 1 Dutchman, 1 German and me. Every other team were all mates or family, and we (the mixed team) nailed the 1st game 3-1. I was knackered, I nearly passed out. It was only 7 minutes a half. Haha. After a cold shower and 15 mins rest we had to play in the final, which we won 3-2. (I scored 2, 1 was disallowed though). Didn't really think much else of it, and was joking saying why we didn't get a cup or a medal.
Me n Hayl went to the beach that night and on the way back up we walked past the happy disco where they were having a presentation giving all the little kids medals and stuff, this 1 lad got up and he looked well older than the rest and I said to Hayley "he's a bit old for that int he". Just as they were getting off the stage the organiser announced " the mixed team please", I didn't really realise until I saw the Germanlad get up, Hayley was egging me on to get up, so I did. There was me, the German lad and 1 of the Italians up in front of all the kids and there parents. Got a cheesy medal and a kiss from some girl handing out the medals. When I got back to Hayley she said, "Bit old for that aren't you Pab". Haha.
Didn't really get up to much else, just chilled out for the week.
We left Butlins and headed for Venice. The campsite was expensive but good. Lots of young people, mainly Aussies. The day we got there they had this live rock band on at night up at the bar. It was funny because there were lots of pissed up Chinese and Australian people all dancing around. There was 1 Chinese lad, quite large, laid out on the grass absolutely smashed and all the Chinese girls were harassing him, poking him and pointing and laughing at him. When he got up he was falling all over the place, don't know if he'd hurt his shoulder but he was walking like the hunchback of Notre-Damn. It really looked like he was faking it but he did it all the way up the road, even when he was out of sight.
Venice was a 20 minute boat ride from the campsite. Its really picturesque but absolutely packed with tourists. As your walking round on every corner there are blokes offering you a Gondola tour, me n Pab were saying the previous day that we'd love to go on one but it depended how expensive they were, we were guessing about 50euros which we were willing to pay. We'd just had some lunch and walked round the corner and asked how much the Gondola tour was, the bloke replied, for 2 people 120 euros, me n Pab just carried on walking, he chased after us saying 100euros, we said too expensive so he got down to 90euros we still said no and kept on walking. Round the corner we ended up getting one for 60euros.
We would have liked to stay longer as Venice is so nice but its far too expensive, cost us 5euros for a tin of tuna. Pab went to the reception for some information about a campsite in Verona, they didn't know much but there were a couple behind him from Manchester who over heard him and told him they'd just come from Verona and said they'd give him some info. That night we met them at the bar, had some drinks and dinner with them then went back to our van for wine and a game of cards.
The next morning (feeling a bit worse for wear) we packed up and set off to Verona. We got to the campsite, after the sat nav took us down a very tight road, we had to pull the wing mirrors in and hope we didn't clip anything. A man came out shouting at us for squashing all the plants and trees on the sides of this road. He told us that there was a much easier way to get to the campsite. Chuffing sat nav. Any way, after waiting 2 hours for the reception to open, they told us our van was too big for their plots and seen as though this was the only campsite in Verona we decided to go to Lake Garda instead. It was only an hours drive but it took us nearly two and a half hours to find a campsite that wasn't full. Italians love the lake! Only did 1 night there because the only campsite with space was 40euros a night. Went for a swim, and that was it.
We have to be in Salzburg by the 12th of Aug for the festival so we started heading North through the mountains towards Austria. We found a campsite right in the middle of the Dolomites. To get there we had to drive up and down about 3 different mountains. At points I had to be in 1st gear going about 15 mph because of the steepness of the hills (imagine west hill with 33 hair pin turns); lots of queuing traffic behind me. Some of the views and scenery driving through the mountains is amazing, the little towns and villages almost look fake there that perfect.
Did 2 nights at the campsite in the Dolomites, we went into the town of Cortina one day which is nice but full of very rich old people in their Versace tracksuits Haha. When we were ready to go back to the van we went back to the bus stop that we'd been dropped off at, seen as though it was a one way street we thought the bus would be coming the same way…… thought wrong. After waiting an hour at the bus stop and realising the bus probably isn't coming we found some policemen who told us were to get the bus.
Nothing else really happened in the Dolomites so once again we were on our way through the mountains to Austria, which is where we are now.
See you later. x
