Ronda is another of the 'white villages' of Andalucia. Another gem. Site of one of the best known bullfighting rings in the area. And what a well organised complex it is. I think we may forget in all the recent debate about the ethics of bullfighting, what leviathon beasts the bulls bought into these rings are. Bullfighting was called off early last year in Madrid due to the goring of three matadors. The sculpture of the bull outside the ring in Ronda (and this was not a large town - not a main centre) was a magnificent animal with incredible muscle across the shoulders. The organisation of the yards to handle these untamed beasts was really quite someting - so that they were seperated, housed, fed and watered, kept cool, and ready to go and charge a mattador or three.
The road to Ronda was through a national park - alas rain and fog completely obliterated any views. But we had entered gorge country with magnificent limestone cliffs. The photo of the bridge in Ronda is an indication of how deep these gorges can be, amd how much time a brgdge would have saved on any travel route.
This was our second "whie village". They have been real finds.
