Down Under!
Hey everyone!
Sorry its been a while! We didn't have much to tell you because we got stuck in Adelaide from lack of funds- Jase spent all his money on booze and Rach spent hers on clothes.. oops!
From our 3 months stuck in Adelaide we have found it to be the black hole of Australia. It wasn't all bad though because we met some amazing people. We stayed in The Hampshire hotel (unfortunatly not a hotel but a cheap backpackers) it seemed like a quiet little city pub until someone mentioned to us it was a quiet, Gay, little city pub. Then like being enlightened we realised everyone who walked through the door were infact the most gay people we have ever seen in our lives! They were all lovely and we had many laughs, especially with stout drinker Geoff who has now got Jase addicted to the manky oven grease tasting drink Coopers Stout. Yuck! We also met a guy called Mel who was soooooooooo funny, things he didn't like he called "communists" and he had a habit of taking the mick out of Chinese people- when they were still in hearing range. We met Ben who used c*nt in every other sentence, and much to our embarrasment cat whistled every lass we passed- even if they were only 12! Adrian and Nina were also great people we met, Adrian from Canada and Nina from Germany. Then last but not least two thieving gypsies from Liverpool Gordon and Andy. Together we did so many random but hilarious things e.g making a concoction of brown vinegar, teabags, mayonaise, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, ketchup, tomato puree, sugar, and a tiny bit of water then boiling it in a kettle- we produced a quite impressive brown and yellow foam that covered the kitchen! Poor Andy was at the brunt of a mean laugh when Jase and Gordon came running into his bedroom armed with a bowl of jelly each, Rach with a camera, Andy got covered in Jelly. Then... he was cleaning off in the shower- first came an egg, then came a bowl of cornflakes. He changed showers thinking it was all over but alas, he got belted with a book, a cleaning sign, a broom, pot and pans, 2 sieves, soy sauce, brown vinegar, a milk container, the milk from the container, ketchup, a bucket and loads of newspapers. Hee hee!
Whilst in Adelaide we 'tried' saving money by getting many jobs, it was hard to save though, living above a pub is just asking for trouble! The first job we found was apple picking in the Adelaide hills with Gordon and Andy we did that for a week, getting up at 5 in the morning and not getting back till 7, it wasn't much fun. We got sacked from that job because we got caught lobbing apples at each other!... We then got a job grape picking, which we then got sacked from because the boss was an *sshole. Jase and Rach then got a job in "The Hogs Breath Cafe" which guess what, we got sacked from. The bosses were taking the micky for our English accents, apparently we talk too fast. Or maybe they are just slow minded.!?! Grrrrr! Then Gordon, Rach and Jase applied for jobs in an Irish pub P.J O'Brians, Gordon and Rach got jobs but Jase got turned down because Mr I'm Too Good for That refused to polish cutlary. The last job we got was in a ware house where for the first few days we spent the entire day stamping 'Made in China' on the labels of Bras. We had a -find the most ugly bra competition- and the winner was a lime-green, leopard skin, tornado head sized bra!
After geting increasingly agitated and annoyed at the boringness of Adelaide (its known as the city of churches, and literally all it is is a city of churches!) we went out and bought a car for $800 between Gordon (G), Andy, Jase and Rach. Which works out as 75 pounds each. Its a Mitsubishi Magna Station Wagon and is a really good buy. There were a couple of things wrong with it, and now many more after Rach started driving it but its a cool car and we are hoping it will get us across Aussie land.
We'd better be off, got loads to do today.
Hope you are all well,
Love Jase and Rach x
