Wednesday 7/March
Today my friend from the hostel, Daniela - from Chile and I caught a bus to Kailua beach... and let me say... IT WAS AMAZING...
It was everything I pictured Hawaii to be... My advise to all who travel to Honolulu... Go to Waikiki beach for the first day just to have fun... But BE SURE TO VENTURE OUT TO OTHER beaches... This beach had the most amazing, soft, fine, white sand... Shallow, brilliant blue water... It was spectacular. It was also fairly secluded, part of a small community... We just got on our floaties and 'floated' around in the water and swam for most of the day...
I will post photos when I get to Phoenix.
Unfortunately, the downside to the day was the I managed to score myself some 2nd degree burns on most of my body!! hahaha.. NOT funny but I feel okay...
On the way home from the beach we stopped at a little corner store, Hawaiian style, and got some dried squid to eat! We thought we'd try something traditional (even though it was a product of Taiwan) as it said "Hawaiian Treat"... The ingredients were Squid, Sugar and MSG. Can't go wrong, ehy?! I'll post photos of this soon....
The verdict??? A very yummy "treat" indeed!!! hehehehe
Thursday 8/March
WELL, you would all be glad to know that today, I fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams... to go WHALE WATCHING.
A friend from the hostel, Kesler and I booked our whale watching tour this morning and caught the bus to get to the dock by 11.15 for an 11.30 departure... We got there at about 11.29 and had to run about a block to the correct dock and we were so puffed.... I really thought we weren't going to make it! It was sooo funny!!
The cruise was lovely, we also had a lunch on board which, unfortunately, I was unable to consume due to a mild case of 'sea-sickness'..... (shame) (mind you, I DID NOT spew!) it looked like great Hawaiian food... Po bread rolls made from the Taro root, Kalua Pork, Honey glazed chicken, mango salads... And other delicacies.
We spotted a pod of humpback whales not long after setting off, we followed them for a while and got to see them swimming in the water, it was amazing. From our distance you could really only see the arch of their back as they dove down and their tail as it went back into the water... but it was still pretty awesome.
Sadly, once I saw the whales, I couldn't wait for the cruise to end because I felt awful. I am very proud I managed to hold down my breakfast.
I didn't manage to capture any photos of the event because I wanted to take it in and enjoy it...!
Anyhoo its 7.04pmand I feel as though I'm still floating in a boat (not a cool feeling) and I'm so sleepy. I still have to pack and do lots. Tomorrow I fly out at 3.15 to Phoenix... From there my cousin Alysia is going to pick me up at the airport, I arrive at midnight. Then I'm going to have a sleep over at her place... The following evening we're going to go to Nanny and Poppy Keller's house (mom's parents) for dinner... Alysia is going to bring Nanny a "surprise" and I'll let you guess what that's going to be!! hehehe
I best be off...
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to show me some love on here, I appreciate it so much... I love hearing from you....
Take care,
Love always
