Woke up this morning got cleaned up and hopped on a bike to pick up some food for breakfast. Powered past the old Italian woman on the way to the market. Living at altitude gave me an advantage.
After breakfast hopped in our car to drive to the bus stop to head into Venice. Made a couple of wrong turns so missed the first bus. Went to pastry shop and bought the cookies with the red jelly in the middle. Met Luigi in his restaurant and told him we'd be back for dinner later in the week.
Got on the bus and met a nice man who told us a shortcut. Transferred buses with him and saved ourselves a couple of minutes. Bus arrived in Venice and exited and crossed the bridge into the beautiful city.
Took a gondola ride. Massimo was our pilot. Toured the ancient waterways of Venice. Walked some more to St. Marks found out it was an hour walk back to the bus.
Took a water taxi also known as a vaporetto back to the bus station to head back. Looped the entire city on the water. Gorgeous night with red and pink skies and lightning.
Hopped off the vaporetto and got on our bus towards Padova. Missed our stop on the bus and had to head back to get the car 2 km's a way. Jogged back from the stop to get the car from the bus stop. Hopped in car and drove to pick up the girls who ducked into a cafe to wait.
Drove to get pizza and wine. Wake up tomorrow and repeat.

Kathy Phew! I'm exhausted just reading that. Sounds like the Italy portion of the trip is off to a great start. Here's wishing you leave more elderly women in your dust tomorrow.
