The name "Stradivarius" has become a superlative often associated with excellence; to be called "the Stradivari" of any field is to be deemed the finest there is.
So there we were touring the famous Stradivarius violins and marveling at their craftsmanship, superlative finish, and majestic sound when suddenly there was a violent crash. I quickly turned around and see shards of wood on the floor. Amy's head bowed between her knees. In fact, I think there was splinters in my neck the crash was so violent. What happened?
While trying to piece together the neck and the body of a "sample" Stradivarius, with the touch of your finest neighborhood handyman, Amy managed to snap the neck of the violin. Even though this happend in a split second, no it wasn't Pete Townshend during "My Generation", she managed to capture the attention of the security guard who immediately went to the front desk to report the infraction.
Amy was left to finish the tour of the museum and imagine her fate. During her walk of shame behind her welling eyes I'm certain countless worst-case scenarios ran through her head. As we neared the exit Amy approached the main desk with trepidation. What would the penalty for destroying a Stradivarius?
And here's where our story ends. Not with Amy whisked off by the carbinieri forced to serve time in carcere, but a polite head shake by the museum administrator and word that everything is ok. So while yes Amy did indeed trash a violin, it was just a sample so it was no harm no foul. My oh my Cremona.
