We finally managed to clear customs and leave Tobago. We sailed to Prickly bay, Grenada and anchored overnight. We then sailed north to Carriacou in the Grenadines, passing over an active under sea volcano on the way. Luckily it was quiet that day. We anchored in Tyrrel Bay, which is very pretty and sheltered and very popular with yachts. There is a nice yacht club which William and I visited at lunchtime. Next day we moved to Hillsborough in order to have access to a cash machine, shops and internet. The anchorage was rolly and nowhere near as nice as Tyrell bay. We left Carriacou on Monday and sailed to Clifton in Union Island. Clifton is a nice town with a tiny airport where we cleared customs for St. Vincent. From here sailed to the Tobago Cays, anchoring behind Horseshoe reef. It was a very busy anchorage. Tobago cays are very pretty and the snorkeling was good although the reef is very shallow. The highlight for me was watching a turtle while snorkeling. Unfortunately we couldn't stay long as a very big swell was forecast for Wednesday to Friday and with the wind in the north we would be beating against the wind and a big sea. We went into Bequia where we stayed for two nights. The first night a three metre swell came in and it was extremely rolly and very uncomfortable. We moved further in which was better and the worst of the swell passed. From Bequai we sailed to St. Lucia, it was an uncomfortable beat into 20 knots of wind with the sea very choppy due to the swell. We picked up a buoy in Soufriere, where we stayed overnight, going on to Rodney bay on Saturday morning. Paul and Alex flew back to the UK on Sunday, having decided a few weeks earlier that they had been cruising for long enough, so we are now looking for two new crew members to do the next leg . If we can find suitable crew we will continue through the Panama canal, into the Pacific, going to the Galapagos and on to Australia. If not it will be plan B, sail north to Bermuda, then back across the Atlantic to the Azores. We will then decide what to do next. We have booked a flight home on the 27th, staying for two weeks to visit friends and relatives before we go through Panama and it becomes very expensive to fly home. During this time the boat is being lifted out and the bottom done. The new sails are also being fitted.
