Eating Noodles Japanese Style
Place: In a fast food restaurant Location: on Kaminarimon-dori in Asakusa Date & Local Time: 10 September 2009, 1:23pm
Note:Me and Dad are having lunch in a restaurant before we proceed to Shinkeji Temple. Again we are following the itinerary in Frommer's guide. Back in Sydney, we tend to eat noodles with or without soup. We also eat directly from the plate. In Japan, we discovered a new way of eating noodles. This is the first time we are eating noodles where the soup is served on a separate bowl from the noodles. This is how you eat it:
Step 1 - With your chopstick, get some noodles from the bowl that holds it.
Step 2 - Transfer the noodles into the bowl that has the soup.
Step 3 - Eat and slurp. Enjoy! Eat the noodles while the soup is hot.
We noticed that many of the Japanese patrons who eat their noodles this way are able to do it fast. Slurping in Japan is acceptable. It's a sign that you really like the soup.
