When we woke up on Tuesday and looked out the window we were quite happy to go to Christchurch, because the rain was throwing it down and it didn't look like it was about to stop any time soon. so we stuffed Rosie, put the windscreen wipers on full speed, buckled up and headed towards what we hoped would be sunshine.
It really is true what they say that New Zealand can have four seasons in a day and we experienced that on the way. One minute it was sunshine, the next all dark and then the rain came. You could actually see where the rain started ahead of you before driving in to it. It was not the best time be forced to keep our back windows open, I'll tell ya!
We drove through some really beautiful scenery though and it was a shame I was driving as I would have loved to just sit and look out the window and take it all in, especially when we were driving along the coast line.
But I made it work by pulling to the side of the road every once in a while to get out, snap some shots and get back in again.
The drive to Christchurch was much longer than the Sat Nav told us though and with necessary stops to stretch our legs and such it took us 7 hours to get there! We were both exhausted when we finally arrived at YHA and after some fresh air with a walk to the supermarket and Korv stroganoff/Sausage stroganoff with mashed potatoes we went straight to sleepy town!

On Wednesday the rain eventually found us and didn't leave for the rest of the day and it was quite an uneventful day, apart from one thing.
After the long drive the day before and the even longer drives we calculated ahead of us and with the rain making itself at home, we decided to take Rosie to the wreckers and travel along by bus as we still have our Intercity Flexi-passes with hours left on them.
So we found this one wrecker company in Christchurch and gave them a call.
They said they would come over to have a look at the car and showed up a while later.
Long story short, we never agreed on a price over the phone, but we've been given a quote for it. Now this guy offered us much less and claimed that we wouldn't be able to get any more for it. We told him that we wouldn't accept any less and he started to get very rude and accused of us stealing the car and so on.
When we said we wouldn't sell the car to him for the price he offered us he said that he would call every wreckers in Christchurch and make sure no one would take the car off us. We went inside and he left and that was that, or so we thought.
He then started calling us repeating that we would never sell the car, texting pretending to be someone interested in buying the car and called several times doing the same.
This went on to the next morning and after he called us at 9 o'clock in the morning, we decided to go to the police and talk to them.
They called the guy and gave him a warning and he mouthed off against the police officer on the phone and accused us of being racists.
The following day we contacted another wreckers/auction company and they gave us the quoted price for Rosie, treated us with some hot chocolate and gave us a lift back to our hostel - now that's how it should be done!

Today it's Good Friday and easter weekend and now we are sitting on an Intercity bus on our way to Queenstown for the weekend. The journey takes 8 hours but we are more than half way through and it's gone by pretty quick, thanks to an episode of Homeland and some 'internetting'.
The weather is s*** and it seems like all of New Zealand is in a rainy period at the moment, or we're just lucky to take the weather with us everywhere we go.
We just stopped by Lake Tekapo for lunch and are supposed to arrive in Queenstown at around 4.40 pm.
Dave is sleeping like a baby and I've caught up on all of my diaries and the blog, finally!
Tomorrow we have booked a 12 hour day cruise (including the bus ride) to and on Milford Sound, which is this huge lake about 5 hours from Queenstown and it's supposed to be really good and beautiful so we are looking forward to it and will tell you all about it tomorrow night :)
Fingers crossed the rain will keep away!
Hugs and kisses,
Dave and Jenny
