Our Global Gallivants
Today's itinerary: use the ferry system to an outer island and go to the beach.
we caught a ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong and then another one to Lantau Island. The first ferry moved so slowly and the second was a high speed ferry. It took 30 minutes from Central to Miu Wo on Lantau Island. When you leave the terminal, you see an enormous number of bicycles for rent. There are also a number of restaurants along the water and that was the first stop. We had fresh shrimp, some clams and some amazing calamari. From there we caught the bus to the beach. The sand was quite nice, although a light beige color. The water was very warm. We walked from the upper beach to the lower one and that's where we went swimming. It's a little disconcerting to see a sign telling you to stay in the marked swimming area because there may be sharks! When I went to the change room I noticed a young girl in a 2 piece bathing suit pasted up against the wall of the outdoor shower with an entourage of photographers taking her photo. When I came out of the change room they had moved to the edge of the water. Two guys who work at the beach, possibly as life guards, each had a pair of binoculars and spent the entire time she was there watching her through the binoculars. Creepy!
We weren't hungry for dinner, so we just had a snack.
It was a nice relaxing day.
