I slept so well last night and found it so difficult to get up this morning when my alarm went off at 06.45. I still managed to squeeze breakfast in before I got picked up for my trip to Cape Tribulation at 07.20. We had a long day and drove about 380kms. Although an active day, we were travelling on the bus a lot so there were good times of rest and the scenery was amazing. The area is so mountainous and covered with rainforest. It's really green and tropical which is so refreshing after all that red dirt, which I'm still trying to wash out of my clothes! After a quick coffee stop in Daintree township we had a short boat ride on the Daintree river before heading into Daintree NP. The Daintree rainforest is said to be the oldest rainforest in the world at 130 million years old. It sounds old, especially when compared with the Amazon which has been dated at 8-9 million years old. For lunch we drove up to Cape Tribulation and checked out the beach. To compliment our lunch we then began heading back south to a local ice cream company to try locally made and grown produce. My fave flavour was wattleseed which is a plant native to Australia. The ice cream tasted mush like a mild cappuccino flavour. Full of food we then visited a wildlife park and finally Mossman gorge, where some of the group went for a swim in the river (with the temperature drop here in Cairns to about 25 degrees, it felt too cool to go in!) and the rest of the group including myself went for a short walk through the rainforest. After our packed day we drove back to Cairns via Port Douglas. I've just been out to dinner with a couple of the girls in my room, and now I'm going to hit the hay, although I'm really excited about going to the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow J
