9th June-
Today was an earlyish start as we had a long driving day. We drove for around 2 and half hours before a stop. I wasn't feeling very well today. The breaks on the bus have been playing up so the journey feels a little rough. We then arrived at Pamukkale village. Here we stopped for lunch before heading up to the white calcium terraces of Pamukkale. It was a really hot day so was nice to be able to put your feet in the water. We walked past some of the ancient ruins and then down to the calcium formations. It was an enormous area covered in the white calcium that is brought to the surface via water from an underground hot springs. The calcium has formed this fantastic area all white and dripping terraces. The main area of the formation is just for looking at but along the side of the formation there are a series of man made pools in which tourists can walk along and put there feet in the water. It was interesting to walk along this section. The ground was covered in the calcium but it wasn't soft or hard really. It has been formed so it felt like you were walking on the surface of another planet. Wading into the pools was nice as it felt like you were able to really experience the water an calcium without damaging the formation.
There was an ancient roman city build around the area. They believed in the health benefits of the springs and build the area into a healing and treatment area.
After an hour or so of walking around the pools it was time get back on the bus and drive to Kusadasi. It was a long drive on the bus with a few stops and small bus problems along the way.
We arrived at Kusadasi and our hotel was right on the beach. We had dinner at the hotel before it was time to get ready and head out for some drinks.
We all made our way to an interesting bar, it was an Irish bar with lots of male dancers/ almost like cheerleaders. They were loving their job of getting everyone up onto the dance floor. Was fun dancing with the other girls in the group and been lead in these line dances. I wasn't able to drink due to feeling unwell. Walked along the street to find another place and stopped at a cafe/bar for a while. Was quieter so could talk. Walked back to first place after a few drinks. More dancing with the topdeck group. Left and walked back to the hotel via the beach.
