Day two - topdeck turkey explorer.
Woke up super early maybe due to the really bright sun. Enjoyed a nice breakfast out on an open deck. This hotel has a great view over the old city with ayaspohia so close we can almost touch it. Checked out of the hotel and meet our guide for the next 10 days for a walking tour. Stayed with the tour for around 15 minutes before I realized that where they had planned I had already seen in detail and didn't feel like repeat visits. I walked over to the ferry port and caught the ferry to the Asian side of istanbul. It was a good choice as there were two large and one small cruise ships in port so the main tourists site were super busy. Walked along the shore line and came across the fethi pasa wood park. It was a hot day but I felt like walking so this was perfect as it was a dense woodland making it shady to walk around in and also cool. Walked up to the top of a small hill in the park. Was a nice little view over the water and also the suburbs of Istanbul. It also seemed to be a popular choice with local families wanting to enjoy a day out. Walked down and back to the ferry port. Caught the ferry to kabatas on the European side of the bosphorus. Walked along till I reached the Istanbul modern art gallery. Went in for a look around. Was in an old industrial shipping yard. Inside had art from the last 100 years by mainly Turkish artists. There was a nice photo gallery with pictures taken over the last 50 years from all around turkey. I would have like to have brought some professional photos taken in Istanbul as it is very photogenic city I think but didn't see a gallery in all my walking. Contuined walking along till I crossed over the Galata bridge. Tried to walk on the shady side of the street as it has really heated up to be a fairly hot day. Walked over the bridge and am surprised that even 10 days later I still enjoy the walk looking at the fisherman, the ferries darting across the water, even the people selling to those crossing the bridge. I think it is a special place in Istanbul. Made my way back to the hotel as we were departing at 430pm on the bus. Was going to be an overnight train but that isn't running this year due to track upgrades. I am glad to be on a bus not the train as this way you get to sleep in a bed rather than trying to get a little fragmented sleep.
Once on the bus we spent some time introducing ourselves. There was a quick stop for dinner at a diner along the way. We arrived in Ankara around 1115pm and just went to bed.
Otel Ankyra ( opera meydani kosova sokak no 1 ). Average place to stay. Crappy wifi. Couldn't get it to work spent time asking reception but only works when that one page is open then have to start again with trying Iskenderto get it to connect. Room was clean and good size. Poor shower pressure.
