11th July 2013 - woke up early thanks to the natural light and animals got dressed. We then went down and enjoyed a pancake for breakfast and some mint tea. The tea is made using a local mint plant that has a slightly lemon mint flavor almost. It is really delicious tea. We then walked back down to the the small dock and said goodbye to our host family. It was a short hour on the boat sailing to Taquile island. We walked a short distance uphill to the main town square. This had a great view out over the lake. There was also a market to look around and see the local men weaving. On this island the men also do the weaving. We then went to a local restaurant and tired some trout for an early lunch. Before lunch got to be a model showing the local traditional dress. The women wear a colour skirt and large colored pom poms on the end of there shawl when single and when married wear a black short and only small pom poms often of a single colour. The men when single wear a red and white stripped hat and when married they wear just a plain red hat. After lunch we walked for nearly a hours just strolling along a stone path to the other side of the island. Along the way we were able to see lots of small farms and they use colored pom poms tied around the sheeps necks to identify the animals that are there's. We also saw the flora emblem of Peru the pink flower the Kantuta plant. We arrive at the dock and then it was back on the boat for 3 hours back to Puno. We spent the time on the boat resting and talking. Back in Puno is was a short walkfrom the dock to the bus. We stopped and brought some fresh popcorn off a street vendor... It was really good. Only a ten minutes on the bus and we were back at the hotel. Had a quick rest before going out to the supermarket to grab a couple things for dinner and breakfast. Mum isn't feeling well so we just had a quiet night in the hotel watching some tv.
