DAY 5:
After spending my first night with the intrepid tour group of 12 other Australians, I am sharing with a girl from the gold coast. Had to make a quick trip to the post office as on the intrepid tours there is lots of moving around on local transport so less baggage is better. It is the first raining day experienced so a good day to be on transport.
We catch the metro to the Budapest train station and after a few ticket issues boarded the train to Eger in the country side of hungary.
The countryside was flatter than I expected and we arrived in Eger to rainy overcast weather. After some minor issues with the taxis to the motel it was time to set off exploring. First stop Eger castle, a few sections were closed but if provided great views over the city. Then it was on to the town square and a visit to the church. Beautiful frescos on the ceiling.
A quick bit to eat, tried a local Hungary desert of large dumpling filled with a fruit jam that has been mixed with coca and then steamed. Served with custard and coca and nut meal on top. Very nice but rich.
Stopped in at the large yellow city church. Beautiful carved columns.
Still raining and have very wet feet. Quick stop at the hotel before heading out tooth valley of the beautiful women. This region is famous for it bulls blood wine. This a red wine made with grapes but has a strong flavors. Enjoyed a few glasses in the cellar before called it a day.
