20th June -
Slightly slow start to the day the late night. Headed down to breakast which was very disappointing after the delicious dinner the hotel had served us the night before. Had to Check out at 11am so didn't leave much time for anything. Walked back into the town to try and take some photos. At the start of the holiday I was crazy taking photos of everything and now I forget the camera in the hotel room or it's left at the bottom of bag... the island is very beautiful so went out to walk around. Because we got stuck in Mykonos we only get one night in Paros which meant we missed doing to half day out in the villages around the island. It is a little disappointing as the island give odd such a relaxed friendly vibe it would have been nice to have had more that 20 hours in the island to look around more.
Headed back down the ferry port to head to Sanatoria. We waited in this strange loaded area. It felt like a cattle race as were all been herded onto the ferry.
The ferry is enormous, it is the same one we leave the island on and head back to Athens on. Arrived at the new port of Santorini and caught the hotel shuttle bus to Fira for our accommodation. Am super lucky to have the single girls room for the next two nights. Had some time to spare before we headed out as a group tonight to Oia to watch the sunset so walked into the two and looked around the shops. It isnt as pretty as Mykonos was with all the white house and rambling laneways but still have some good shops and things are an ok price. They seem to be more relaxed with the building standards as there is more variations and less strict about sticking to the traditional style. Dropped off some washing to a local place. It is kinda sad that finding a washing places make me a little happy. It is these little things that start to get to you after so weeks of travelling and for the next few weeks I am on the move every day or two.
We headed over to Oia around 730pm to find a good spot to watch the sunset. There were hundreds of people crowded around on this small pensunliar area waiting for the sunset. We found a pretty spot were we could stand and see the sunset with minimal people in front of us. Waited around for an hour and then the sun started to set. It was an ok sunset but was that amazing by any means. Some in the group thought that it was great but it was an average sun set as far I was concerned. Took too many pictures mostly because we had waited so long for it to happen more so than because it was great.
Then headed back to the hotel and walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. It was an ok dinner and got to taste some of the local Santorini wine.
