19th June -
Woke up too early... I don't Understand why after a night out my body thinks that waking up at 7am is a good idea. Today at least the winds seems like it had calmed down so hopefully we get to leave the island. Enjoy a breakfast again at the hotel restaurant that has a great view over the beach and bay we are staying at.
After breakfast packed the bag up and caught the bus into the Mykonos town to loom around the shops for a couple of hours before we leave. The shops are funny they are often the bright and tight clothing or the white cotton loose linens for sale. It is so nice just walking around this place and explore all of the little streets and cute little shops that are tucked around the corner. It is also nice to walk around and not be blown away by the gale force winds over the last few days. Caught the bus to the hotel and checked out and confirmed that the ferry is running today so we are leaving the island. Hang around at the hotel and visit what seems to have become my of my favorite store ... The local supermarket sunrise. This is a rustic shop right on the beach front... You just walk in bare feet and bikini and grab whatever you need and head back to the sun beds.
The ferry terminal was busy after limited transport over the last two days everyone is traveling today. Caught a nice red high speed caterarman to Paros. Was a short trip only 45 mins or so on the water. Only scary bit was that your luggage was stored outside on the deck and it was a bumpy journey with spray so wasn't sure how the bags were going to go ... But arrived everything was good. Put the luggage on the hotels shuttle and walked around the town. It's a lot quieter than Mykonos. We walked along via a small area of the town towards the hotel. The hotel has a great restaurant lounge area where you can sit and watch the ocean. Walked back into the town to visit the old church. It was a nice Greek orthodox church that has pews and seating inside which I thought was different from the other orthodox churches had visited before which had standing room only. Headed back to the hotel to get ready to go out for dinner and then headed out to a local bar on the water front for a shisha night. Not sure if that is what I needed after spending the time in turkey but was fun to use them again with a group. Sat around drinking cocktails... They made a mistake with my order so I got a free one and then tried this Greek cocktail special. It was essential a glass of ozuo with a dash of lemonade and red cordial.
