28th May 2013- woke up early to finish packing and organizing my room ready for sublet. Once everything was away and everything in the backpack it was time to head to the airport... Backpack weighed in at 20kg which is probably too heavy but trying to pack for both warm and cold weather has caused excessive weight. Said sad and teary goodbyes before boarding the air Canada flight to Toronto. Flight was full but watched a couple comedy movies too pass the time. Enjoyed some last Tim hortons bagels and Internet for a while and waited for my flight to Cuba. Was surprised at the lack of passport checking before leaving the country.... Meet a Cuban local while waiting at the gate, he has given me his business card for themes tour company he is starting in Cuba... So if anyone wants a contact for small personal tours of Cuba I have his info.
Flight to Cuba was empty and very turbulent. Landed and was pleased to not face harsh questions over the one way ticket to Cuba.
Was meet by the driver from my Casa family stay and after a quick exchange of money I was on my way to downtown Havana.... The first impression was something like Fiji... Tropical, humid, poor but friendly. After a 30 min drive I arrived at the house I will be staying in for the next two nights. Was pleased with the pleasant interior and hot shower after seeing the state of the buildings. After a long, emotional and tiring day it was nice to have place to call it a night and rest up before going out exploring in the morning.
