As I sit here reluctantly pretending to enjoy a tin of fruit cocktail, I reflect on the last week. Tomorrow it will be 1 week since I set out on my voyage. I drove from Ireland to the uk, the uk back to Ireland. I then spent the weekend in Waterford in Ireland. Luckily my wonderful fiancée came out to see me.
On Monday I collected a trailer from Waterford, got it loaded and back to yard. I was kind of hoping that would be it! Nope! Off out, 2 collections later I'm heading upto Dublin and catching Irish ferries back to uk. I spent the night in the drivers lounge watching bat man.
I couldn't believe how much food some of these truck drivers could devour in one sitting! I stayed there until we docked, slowly heading for the stairs to deck 3.
Getting in my cab, I checked my belongings, hoping I had enough food to last me. I'd lost 6 lb on my last trip.
Everyone started to crank their engines and get ready for the rat race out of the port.
Any way, here I am in sunny Doncaster, having already been to Shropshire. I have managed to cook Cous Cous and smoked mackerel. Tasty when you have nothing else really.
I miss my family; my mum and her crazy ways, my son and his handsome smile and the guy I consider a very good friend, my Dad! As well as my younger brother and sister.
Obviously it goes without saying, I miss my Wife to be, to be in 4 weeks! So I have 3 weeks work left and off we head abroad.
Oh and I have been tasked with planning our next holiday, route 66!
