Since we got here, La Digue has been a hive of activity which surprised me however, it was short lived. It was bust due to local celebrations!
Yesterday we had a nice trek out to view the north and east side of the island. Very beautiful and very interesting. Straight away I saw Skinks. We'd hired bikes which were just a hindrance to me but still a little fun. I say that because I just wanted to rummage through the under growth to view wildlife.
Later we decided to get snorkelling gear and beach towels. We had been inspired by nice calm beaches at Anse Severe. So we picked a spot and I took the opportunity to get into the water. It was lovely to see amazing marine fish going about their daily duties. The sea was rough and a couple of times I was almost thrown into rocks.
I decided to sit with my Wife by the beach but that was short lived, a wave soaked us. We grabbed our things, piss wet through and head back to the villa, me bare foot.
We got ready for dinner, the night maid did her stuff, made the room stunning!
Oh we also had a walk into the village, very busy. Out of interest we took a peak in a local shop and noticed drinks were at least half the price of the hotel! Steph got out her savings bonds and invested heavily in EKU, a German beer brewed in the Seychelles.
Dinner was a fish theme, we pretty much tried everything, including Octopus curry.
Before bed we had a couple of drinks and a game of cards,
This morning we got up at about 0830, down for breakfast at 0900.
Breakfast was s***e in all honesty but no worries! Everything else makes up for that.
Today we took a trip to the reserve, 100 Rupees each. The park consists of giant tortoises, coconut oil mill, gift shop were I caught and was bitten by a Skink. There also were some very scenic beaches, the very same beaches used for the film castaway.
Today was very hot indeed!
We had a look in gift shops and bought some nice little bits. We also invested heavily in Wine and beer! Helps my Wife cope with me I think.
In the dining area tonight, it is an Italian theme. Quite looking forward to that!
We just had a little excitement there, a fire alarm sounded which sounded much like it was coming from in here. It wasn't!
This evening I have enjoyed photographing local wildlife like Day Geckos, beautiful.
I like being married to Steph, although nothing other than a legal status has changed, we seem to be a lot closer and it is certainly strange but nice being known as Mr and Mrs Bridge. Just hope my Wife feels the same!
I'm really missing my Son, I have NO contact with him at the moment, it's actually devastating but there is nothing I can do right now. All I can do is wait till I get back and consult with a solicitor. It's heartbreaking because he really does mean the world to me, he's very much part of this family and always will be.
