For the weekend before Valentines, we decided to have a weekend away. A trip to Co Clare staying in a grand hotel was in order. Just a nice relaxing trip away from home.
Sunday we left home at 8:30 ish and had breakfast at the Corbett Court in Charleville.
We took off to the Cliffs of Moher but firstly stopping off at Lehinch for a quick coffee and for me to see the beach. I was amazed seeing the Atlantic Ocean, so ferocious and wild. Unreal! Not only that, surfers were getting ready to do their thing.. Fair fecks to them, I couldn't do it.
After downing our coffees, we headed to the Cliffs were I believe some of Father Ted was filmed.
It's around €12 to park up and take a trip including the visitors centre, pretty good actually.
The view was breathtaking. I loved it. Steph wasn't keen on me walking on along the edges because of the wind.
We went for a coffee in the visitors centre and bought some bits. Something very noticeable there on the cliffs were numbers for the Samaritans. Apparently suicides here are writhe. Not only that, there are tshirts with people jumping off.
Anyway... Took off to the Falls Hotel to check in, had lunch and took a wonder into Ennistymon. We decided to go for a drink. A choice of several pubs but Eugenes Drinking Emporium was chosen. Outside, paintings of Father Ted and cast.
Inside we got our Guinness and sat down. Steph asked the owner what was the link with Father Ted. Apparently quite a lot! Including some scenes filmed in there for King of the sheep.
He showed us the Father Ted corner, brilliant.
In the evening we ate at the hotels Thai Restaurant. The food was excellent!
Excellent place, really enjoyed it!
