So tonight I should be writing to you from Perth instead we are still in Auckland at an airport hotel! After going to the cinema on Friday to see the extremely cheesy Scream 4, I had a great toothache which actually managed to keep me awake most of the night, now that is saying something for me. So Saturday evening on Easter weekend I was on the internet looking for an emergency dentist, luckily we found one and got an appointment for Sunday morning. An hour, root canal treatment and a very numb face later, I hoped the pain would be better. Ironically the dentist had lived in St. Albans for 18 years he didnt treat me to a discount though, thank god for travel insurance!
Feeling a lot better we got on with preparing to leave in the middle of the night to catch our flight, our shuttle was picking us up at the 3a.m. unfortunately me and the antibiotics the dentist gave me did not agree and I spent the night hugging the toilet! Somehow I made it through the 45 minute drive but jumped out leaving poor Olof to handle all the bags to get acquainted with the airport toilets! We both decided then flying would be a nightmare as I couldnt stop being sick so we tried to rearrange our flight. The company we booked through were absolutely awful (cue a complaint email coming!) but luckily the ticket desk opened and we could change our ticket for free to Thursday morning! Love Qantas! Now we had the problem to finding a hotel to check in to at five in the morning so we headed to the information point, the guy got us a deal so we only needed to pay $10 to check in straight away and stay the rest of the night. So here we are, we went back to bed and I felt much better waking up later. We've got another night in this hotel then we're moving to a hostel, today we ordered in Dominoes pizza but we need a kitchen!
So now follows a very boring couple of days in an airport hostel, lets hope this is the last hiccup of the trip and we're even more looking forward to Australia now!
Obviously when we tell this story to our grandkids in years to come the incident would have happens in the depths of India where I went to see a medicine man who healed me with his mind!
