So I'm in Florida! Currently sat in my friend Ash's condo in Tampa. It's so beautiful! The journey here from the UK was actually surprisingly easy. It was scary being a 'grown up' and checking in and finding out where to go and everything, but surprisingly simple. We had about a five hour journey down to Gatwick from Liverpool last night, and got in to the hotel around 3. Obviously due to excitement and the fact that we've been running on adrenaline for days now (trains to Liverpool, no sleep etc) I still couldn't sleep and didn't get my head down till 5am. We were up at 7.30am to go and check in at 8:00, and then caught our flight at 11:00am. Our flight was pretty amazing; obviously being budget travellers we were expecting no frills, no food, etc; but British Airways are awesome! First on the menu was a round of free drinks, so whilst everyone on the plane was graciously accepting a glass of water, I cracked open the chardonay! Start as you mean to go on I say. Then a three course lunch with more wine, and then a dinner of sandwiches and a brownie! Watched a bit of 27 Dresses on the plane but it was crap, so I just had a nap and rubbed my nicotine patch. It was pretty sweet actually.
We met Ash around 4 and drove from the airport in Orlando to Tampa. It's so amazing to see her! Chloe, Ash and I have always been dead close but since she moved to Florida it's been FOUR YEARS since we saw her. Absolute madness. Anyway, we're here now and it's just like old times! We grabbed some Macdonalds as we were absolutely starved (despite eating food on the aeroplane, we've been awake for about 21 hours and counting, and junk food is helping with the jet lag!) and came back to the condo to chill out. I ran across the road and called into Wallgreens for cigarettes, and got two packets for SIX DOLLARS. Yes folks, that's two packets for three pound. One pound fifty a packet. I feel like I'm in Corfu or Khazakstan or something. It's insane how cheap it is here.
Ash works two jobs, and tomorrow she's doing a double shift at the restaurant so Chloe and I are having a chill out day by the pool, catching some sun, maybe nipping out to explore a little for a walk and just generally relaxing, swimming and reading. Oh, and Ash's other job is at American Eagle and she gets a FOURTY PERCENT DISCOUNT. Take the fact that American clothes are cheap anyway, added to the amazing exchange rate at the moment, and then take a fourty percent discount. The fricking clothes might as well be free. Can't wait to hit the mall on Saturday and hit up that discount! Hell yes.
Anyways, yeah, I got here safe and I'm loving it already. Talk soon y'all!
