1st day in the hospital! Quick ward round of only 7 patients - 1 with typhoid, 1 with his foot run over, a baby with pneumonia, an elderly man with diabetic ulcer, elderly lady with a stroke and another man with dyspnoea. We then went down to outpatients and saw a steady stream of patients. Saw lots of colds, boils, sore eyes, diarrhoea etc but above all met the lovely people of Levuka! Tokaso (one of the nurses) said to go to town for lunch, which totally wrecked mum - it was 30 degrees and HUMID! Anyway back to outpatients we went... After a bit of encouraging. After work we headed to immigration to put an end to the visa but Elvin left home early... Ahh well tomorrow I guess. Talked mum into yoga then had a G&T with John, Marilyn and Joanne - a delightful Englishwoman who married a Fijian 12 years ago and lives in a nearby village with her 4 kids.
