Loule carnival was fantasic. Lots of Brazilian flavours with loud music of all types, excellently constucted floats and superb costumes. Drinks sold in the street were 1 euro for either a beer or a glass of wine and everyone just having a real party throwing streamers or bags of polystyrene balls, great fun. No one collecting money as you paid 2 euros to get in, well worth it. (Lots of spectators dressed up too and got really into the spirit of it all).
Mastered the walk from our apartment across to Luz via the coastal path. A good walk but not for the faint hearted as the climb down into Luz is a little steep and precarious. Good fun though especially as Val talked me into having a swift drink in Luz before the return leg.
We seem to have been adopted by 2 cats that sit on the lawn outside the apartment. We have labelled them "Basil & Sybil" mark II.
Barbara & Richard at last managed to get here following their cancelled flight last year when that plane crashed at Birmingham airport. We did one or two of the usual sightseeing trips and on Bab's birthday, after breakfast on the balcony with a small birthday cake and candle, we strolled along Mia Praia beach (shell hunting) and back before having a wonderful meal at Antonios where the waiters surprised Babs with another cake and candle.
Val's family came out at the end of March. June, Alf, Mathew, Ann-Marie and Olivia all arrived safely with June and Alf staying with us and Mathew, Ann-Marie and Olivia staying in another apartment further down the road in Port Da Mos. It was celebrations all round with Alf's 81st birthday (cake and candles on the balcony at breakfast followed by dinner at Antonios), June & Alf's 56th wedding anniversary and mothers day (lunch at the Gallery in Luz), not forgetting Scotts 30th birthday back in UK where he and Sam were DJ'ing at Ministry of Sound night club in London. We all had a wonderful time, especially Olivia as it was her first time in the sand and on a beach.
