Heythere readers,
The Tanami has been a real treat to travel on. The road trains are ginormous up to 50+m in length. Ben worked out that there would be be 50 tyers on the one vehicle with 3 trailers. He then worked out that to replace the tyers on the thing would be bout $25000/ vehicle if each tyre was $500. the volume of dust that they kick up as they past is all consuming. We have had to park on the roadside and waith until the dust cleared until we couold set off again.
Death is prominent on the roadsides, and ranged from large cattle through to roos, both red and grey. The smaller style road kills like birds are probably carried through until disintigration on the fonts of the trucks. One of the photos in the album is of an emu chick. This was caught by locals who kindly stopped to show us their three chicks recently caught. A real treat for the kids.
