Hello its Hannah were writting again from aswan, as tomorrow morning we'll be bording a felucca and sailing down the nile from aswan to luxor, sleeping on the deck of the boat and probably without anymore internet till we arrive in luxor. Well what have we been up to : yesterday we slept to recover from the night train (the craziest train ride ever, we had seats but the rest of the passangers just seemed to sleep anywhere in between! specatacular views of the nile tho!) then we headed out in the cooler afternoon on a motor boat round the islands of the nile spotting random hierogliphics carved in rocks along the river like grafitti, we then stopped at a nubian village a real african village and went for dinner at a locals house, where they kept an array of crocodiles and cats for pets. We ate lots and then danced with the children, which was hilarious, there all tiny but already have amazing rhythm.
We then woke at 3 the next morning to catch a police convoy across the dessert to Abu simbel (our most southern stop in egypt) two huge temples carved into the cliffs on the edge of lake nasser. As amazing as the pyramids as once inside they still have ll the original carvings with some of the paint still showing through. the scale and detail is something else. The lake is also quite cool as it is used to generate all the electricty for the whole of egypt. we then travelled back across the desert in the heat of midday and watched as the mirrages became more and more convincing its like watching the sand melt to water -very cool. Any way ive written loads better leave some stuff to tell you when we get home. hope everyone is well. Alice hows long road going? hear brian won bigbrother! we will write again soon lotsa love Hannah
