According to the SLTDA, at the end of 2010, the country had 249 registered hotels providing a total of 14,461 rooms. During 2009 and 2010, the authorities degraded a number of tourist hotel properties. However, the supply of supplementary accommodation units such as guest-houses, motels, and inns increased by 51 additional units, from 578 in 2008 to 629 in 2009.
