So, we left without sharing our final da svidanya to Moscow. As we had to check out of out hotel before noon, we had no further chance to update things. Instead we went back downtown and saw the old KGB headquarters building, walked along the moscow river across from the kremlin, ate at a posh cafe, visited the state university campus(with its stalinist skyscraper, the tallest building of educational purpose) before devoting some time to thoroughly visit the beauty of the moscow metro system. Although it might have been tiring, going up and down between levels, we returned to pick up our bags pleased, having marvelled at the magnificent achievments of aesthetic engineering, coupled with uncanny efficiency. In fact, in one station with a series of mosaic pictures on the roof, no less than 4 trains came by as we walked from the end of the platform to the other. Now for the first bit of the intercontinental train ride, I must leave you in suspense.
