Sovereign Harbour at Eastbourne is conveniently located but has precious few other merits to claim. We needed to be out promptly and entered a lock which soon filled with a couple charter boats full of anglers and single surly fishermen in their grubby little boats.
We were round Beachy Head in glorious sunshine before the tide turned against us and motored into a westerly breeze along a familiar coastline before closing the beach off Rustington to wave at my sister and brother-in-law standing on the shore. We then popped into Littlehampton to collect Jasper, but I was not sure he was that thrilled being reunited with his boat. Off out into a solid four from the SW we stormed through to the Mixen and reduced speed in the Looe Channel as it was as rough as I have known it with more than 20 knots of southwesterley agaist 3knots of current.
Once through the Looe we beat along to Portsmouth and took up our berth in Gosport marina to be greeted and welcomed home by our boat neighbours and friends.
