G'day guys!
Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine!
Ok, so this weekend was my first market weekend and my 1 week anniversary at the farm! So really productive weekend but totally shattered now- been enjoying getting up whenever I want for the past 3 weeks, so its a bit of a shock to the system getting up at like half 5 in the morning!
Anyway, Friday was a pretty mad day as all the meat came back from the butcher all cut and nicely wrapped! We had to separate it into the three traliors ready for the markets and get everything ready. Once that was done we were on our three hour journey to Melbourne for the weekend. Belinda also has a house in a place called Werribee, which is just outside Melbourne so we went to stay there with her brother Hayden so we could all go to market from there. So I packed another bag and moved somewhere else for a few days....love this moving thing! NOT! The house was really lovely, another bungalow (not sure why they love bungalows here!) so there was 7 of us on Friday night and 9 of us on saturday night- very cosy!
On Saturday we went to a market in a place called Mornington Peninsula, which was a nice small market, it poored with rain on and off and the sun came out so quite interesting weather wise! It was great chatting to all the other stall holders as well as all the local customers- really got to see a side of travelling most people dont get to see so that was great! Was kind of thrown in at the deep end when it came to the selling but as I had some practice at home it wasnt too bad! Logic would be proud!
Today we went to a market in a place called Mulgrave which was a much better and nicer market- we were rushed off our feet all day and hardly came back with any stock which is great! Also got to talk to a lot more people so really really enjoyed that- great experience! Everyone got to know us as well which is really nice! Really loved it...
There was three groups of us at the markets, me and Shain, the dutchies (2 dutch grils- Anna & Patty) and 2 new guys from the UK and Hayden at different markets. HOWEVER me and Shain made the most money so we were very proud as it was my first few market and the others are experienced so I told them they should be ashamed of themselves as I am a market virgin! As we made the most it means we get 40 bucks to spend on whatever we want- so suprise suprise me and Shain have decided to spend it on alcohol! Save that for next week i think...he he!
At the moment I am just waiting for my nails to dry and Abbie very kindly forced....i mean asked me if she could paint them pink and i let her...i am lucky though as she didnt just paint my nails she also painted my fingers. Lucky me...!
Then im going to have a nice early night as I have had very few hours sleep in the last few days! Tomorrow will be a sad day too as Belinda said they are planning to shoot one of the dogs tomorrow. His name is Chacer and he had a wound on his neck which we have been trying to make better but now he seems to have blood poisoning and Belinda said he is likely to turn and go nuts so we need to shoot him before that happens....sad....
Either way I am NOT GETTING UP for anyone tomorrow morning....think ill put earplugs in so I cant hear the kids too! What a plan!
Trying to load some pictures of the farm on facebook but having more trouble so watch this space.....!
Big love to all xxxxx

Daddy Hey wanderer, Well the bad news is England are out of the world cup (news may not have reached you yet out there in the wilds) but the good news is England have beaten Australia AGAIN in the cricket and it is now 3-0! he he! Anyways, enough of that...Still very hot over here, temperatures reaching 29 in London, phew...I am off tomorrow so I will probably ring you and go over your letters (it really is time you knew the alphabet at your age) The new insulation is in the loft is working well (unfortunately) but it is too hot up there now to build shelves and put all the junk back. It will have to stay in your room until the cooler weather returns. Well done on your market exploits, I have looked up the places you mentioned and although they are all quite close to Melbourne you have covered a few miles over the weekend! Just a small point, not many farmers I can think of have painted fingernails...not in this country any way, not sure about over there where they talk funny. Love you always Daddy xxx
Big Brother Glad to see you finally have a trade that doesn't involve sitting at a desk ;) I start uni in 11 ish weeks, how scary is that?!! thanks for the band you sent me, wore it out the other night where we jst happened to go to the Australian bar, i had kangaroo for the first time and then danced while trying some Oz beer.
