HAPPYNEWYEARAUSTRALIA-From snowy Arizona
We hope you all enjoyed some New Year's celebrations with family and friends.
Well the weather has turned dramatically since our last blog with a major cold snap coming through so we haven't done too much.
29/12/10
Today is very wet and cold.It rained most of the night and it is still raining today and at times it is has been really heavy but worst of all, it is really cold. They say it is going to snow!!!!We stayed at the RV park all day and went out to chat when the rain eased and caught up with the washing etc. otherwise we didn't do too much at all. They have had a huge amount of snow fall just north of here today and they even had to close the highway in and out of Flagstaff late this afternoon.

We had a big storm come through over night with lots of rain and huge wind gusts coming through.Being inside the motor home overnight was like being in a boat it was that rocky from time to time.We woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground here.It was very exciting to see the snow around us.We had to be up early this morning as we had booked to go up to the Arizona Snowbowl outside of Flagstaff for Noel to go skiing but unfortunately the highway this side of Flagstaff is still closed so they had to cancel the bus up to the snow for today. We were really disappointed but there was nothing that anyone could do with the highway closed.Apparently the Flagstaff council don't own snowploughs as they feel that they don't get enough snow to warrant having them so the highways just get closed off until the snow melts.(they finally opened the road again around 2pm today)They have even had snow down in northern Phoenix. We spoke to Roy & Monique in Yuma today and it is cold and windy down there also.We stayed in again today and had snow flurries off and on for most of the morning so it was nice to sit in the warmth of the motor home with the blinds up and watch the snow fall. The snow has stopped (for now) but we are still having a few wind gusts from time to time, but not as bad as they were overnight.

Today we are going into Cottonwood to collect the old motor home as we are setting off in "Thunder Pig" tomorrow morning to take her to LA.She will be leaving here on 23/1 for her cruise to Australia. We are calling in to Yuma on our way to LA to collect some paperwork which was sent to Roy's for us and then we are heading to LA and looking at RV Storage in the area for the new one also while we are there. After we get things sorted out we will then be catching the Amtrak train back to Flagstaff, which is an overnight trip, and then we will catch a shuttle bus back here to Camp Verde to collect the new motor home.Unfortunately we then will have to make our way back to LA again to prepare for our trip home.(Boo Hoo!)Tonight we are heading over to the Casino across the highway with the group of friends we have made here and we are joining in on the celebrations there, which will be really great. They have a free shuttle from our RV Park to the Casino so no one even has to drive! There will be a couple of different bands playing throughout the night and they have a fireworks display scheduled for midnight so should be a great night out.
Not sure when our next blog will be as we will be on the road again and don't know what internet coverage we will have until we get back here again (probably 5/1) but we will send another blog as soon as we can.
Take Care of each other and until next time we send you all our love and best wishes for a great New Year.
