Hello again from sunny Arizona
Thanks to everyone who forwarded Christmas wishes to us. We really appreciated the messages and phone calls and it was lovely to speak to family and friends on skype also. Glad everyone had a great Christmas even though it was so wet over there!
This is what we have been up to since our last blog, although we have been fairly quiet and are still in Camp Verde just relaxing as it is so cold everywhere else that we would have liked to have gone before we headed home. There is another cold front coming through and they have even predicted snow falls down to 2000ft in our area in the next couple of days (we are at 3500ft) so it's going to get colder yet!

We have had a lovely Christmas Eve catching up with everyone at home as it is Christmas Day over there. We went into Cottonwood and did some grocery shopping then came back to the Distant Drums RV Resort where we are staying. Tonight we went to one of our new friends' RV (Ken & Chris) for a get together with lots of others here in the park. They have a 5th wheeler/toy hauler and the back section where they carry their bikes (Harleys of course) has a sliding door to close it off from the living area and they have a big table and chairs set up in there so the area is completely usable for entertaining inside in the warmth. It was lovely to chat and get to know everyone better and talk about the many differences of our two countries. It was a bit of a late night for us because we have been in our motor home early most nights because as soon as the sun goes down it gets so chilly.

We started the day at 5am when the kids called us on the phone and then via skype as it was Christmas Day in both countries then. They were getting ready to go to bed and we weren't quite ready to get up but did anyway (we went back to bed again afterwards). A lot of people in the park have family and friends who live nearby so it was very quiet in the park today. Mike and Jan across from us were here and so we chatted with them throughout the day and around 3pm we went to have Christmas Dinner with Paul & Sandy who live here in the park but have a friend in Cottonwood who has a house but isn't here at present so asked them to use the house, so their two sons and their families and a few couples from the park got together there for Christmas dinner and they invited us to join them also which was really lovely. It was a great afternoon/evening and a memorable Christmas for us. After dinner we played 'Texas hold 'em Poker' (or something like that) and as it's something we've never played before it was really good fun. Mitch you would have been proud of Noel, he did really well and was third last player. So it was another late night for us but we've had a lovely Christmas Day with our new friends here in Camp Verde.

We had a great sleep in this morning and didn't do too much today at all, just laid around watching TV and chatting with friends in the park. Tonight we got together up in the Club House with a group of our friends here and played a game called Balderdash. It was hilarious but not sure if the game is meant to be as funny as it was though. It is a game where you have a set of cards with uncommon words from the dictionary on them and you have to try and guess the meaning of the words. You write your guess on a piece of paper and then all of the answers are all put together with the correct answer, and you have to try and guess which one is the correct meaning. I have to buy this game and bring it home as I can see it being a fun game for a PSA in the hood. By the end of the night we all had such sore stomach muscles from laughing so much. It really was so much fun.

"Happy Birthday Grandad". Today we went into Cottonwood and Noel did some work on the old motor home getting it ready for it's cruise back to Australia. While he did that I rearranged some things inside the new motor home as I wasn't happy with where we had stored some things when we first moved everything into this one. It's just like a house when you first move in and as time goes by you find what does and doesn't work. We had a quiet night in tonight and just laid around watching TV.

Well today was Noel's day to move things around in the outside storage compartments trying to put things in the most practical areas. We've also made a list of where everything is as we intend to do up an instruction book for the motor home for when others come to use it. Hopefully we'll get this done while we are here if we can find the time in our social calendar to do it. I know what will happen once we get home if we don't get it done here. Tonight it was our turn to entertain. A few people came over to our motor home for dinner and we cooked outside on the bbq then moved inside to eat. It was nice and cosy sitting around the table and couch eating and chatting. We now know that six people can eat inside but I truly think that six is it's absolute limit in here.
Well as I said we have been fairly quiet the past few days but thoroughly enjoying our time here. Unfortunately we are now looking at our plans for heading back home and getting the old motor home to LA etc. so I hope the time doesn't slip by too quickly as we are just starting to unwind and relax. Another month would be nice............... but warmer weather maybe!
So, until next time be sure to look out for each other and take care, especially on those wet roads.
Lots of Love to everyone
Noel and Pam

Stephanie Saxton Hi, It was nice to talk to you on Skype yesterday. I've been enjoying reading your daily blogs before work - give me something to day dream about haha. Finallly had a few days of almost sunny weather which is a pleasant change. In local news: Australia lost the cricket and flooding is causing lots of problems in QLD and NSW. We've been really lucky with the rain at our place, only wet carpet so far. Looking forward to new years. wish you all the best - keep up the blogs and pickies. Much love Tim Steph n Thumpa
