Slight chill in the air. . .
We are all very sleep deprived, I don't think any of us have had a decent sleep, everybody is anxious and anxiety is kicking in. People are struggling in their own way with the climb.
For me on the other hand, not to rub it in, have found the climb so far extremely easy, just a leisurely walk for 6hours each day with a crap picnic for dinner, as bread is going stale we have started getting fried bread, my packlunch except the juice goes to porters passing by. I just stock up at breakfast and at tea time. We are all saying how over fed we all are, I haven't felt hungry yet we just constantly get fed. Ready with the extra pounds to roll down the hill after reaching the summit.
We head up through the same vasts amount of open land gradually making our way up, until we start hitting snow, this was great, the scenary around us was just amazing. The path started getting a bit muddy, but then became completly covered in snow. And we had a slight blizzard. Kibo hut is where two different routes meet up, so when looking over at the other paths watching the porters and people walking against the gusts of snow being blown in their faces.
This it got cold and harder to walk in, the wind, freezing cold just tore through you and you couldn't look forward well to where you where headed. I was frozen by the time I reached the hut.
Kibo hut, oh my it was luxury compared to the last two huts, although sleeping outside would be luxury compared to rat hotel. We had a huge room to urselelves with a table and a bench. I lay on the table cracking my back into place, as my backpack is heavier than I think. We snacked on trail mix, although I picked around the m&ms and that just threw me, these canadians and their wierd food mixes! While waiting for the other four we set the table up for tea and coffee, I was all wrapped up bed as we were all trying to warm back up. At this point I was wearing thermal leggings, leggins two pairs of nike 3/4s and trackie bottoms with a running t-shirt, two thermal tops and my warm jacket, which to be fair is a bench huddy thing! I sat on my bunk in my bag being princess while everyone sat around the table passing up me cups of tea and throwing up bananas to me while they all dug into their chips.
Then it was walkies. We climbed a further 100meters higher, by this point the wind had died down and the blizzard had passed over. Rox and shermin had made the decision to not climb any further as they were miserable and had achieved what they had wanted to achieve so they stayed at the hut.
Once we got to our 100meters higher a snowball fight kicked off with snow angels and a snowwoman being made, roy had firmly secured the boobs in place.
Once back down, it was food time then nap time. Prob went to bed at say 7.30pmish, I musta slept for about half an hour. 11.00pm equals water for washing. We get up, I add my extra layers of three vest tops and a crop top. I am now, and everyone else officailly stinking as none of us wash and are wearing the same clothes day in and day out, me for bed aswell. I do wet wipe each day but the clothes are saturated with sweaty armpit smells. Ob as my mother occasionally mistakenly calls it.
We get 4packets of creme biscuits with tea and coffee and hot choc. I have my packet of tarro chips as I was hungary and a full packet of biscuits with a few teas and hot chocs.
Bring it on.xx
