Ellie - panted out . . .
Early morning rise with breakfast at 7.30. Into the car. Into the park. It was gorgeous, just being able to see forever desert almost, trees and wildlife. Of course not forgetting mt kil at the side.
As expected, many a many a many an elephant. Obviously sighting emily-kate. In one of the photos I've taken, good old emily must be there somewhere.
Driving around stopping when we got to animals grazing around we would stop for pics. Spotted animals are zebras, giraffes, gazelles, many different birds, lions, cheetah, hyena, hogs, hippos, wilder beasts, cows, goats and of course elephants.
Before din dins we got to see entertainment amongst the animals. Spotting lions in a bush was the beginning, a group of elephants were approaching spread out from a distance til they somehow noticed/sensed the lions not far away, which they responded by forming a group with the male at the front. They walked together in formation towards the bush and stopped. The male charged through part of the bush which resulted in the lions legging away, trapping two between the two groups of elephants. As another group of ellies had sauntered over from a wee distance away.
The two families of elephants stood while the males greeted each other and parted their separate ways.
We blasted round on the sand road to the direction of the lions and parked up. Here we watched 12lions wandering across the plain, past the vans, not affected by us at all,and towards a herd of zebras.
The zebras were all facing the direction of the lions on edge. The lions all wandered behind a group of trees and lay in the shade. The majority of the zebras had moved back, while a small group ranging from 3 to 6 kept creeping near to the lions, trotting away then trotting back, a bit besides themselves. Amongst them one zebra had his tail missing, so we were joking accusing the poor thing of wanting to demand his tail back from the lions. The trotting back and forward went on for a while. In the end we moved on as no hunting looked liked it was on the cards, they only eat every 3 days or so which I was surprised by.
We got a tip of a sighting of a cheetah, so our car headed and we got to watch the cheetah move into some bushes while the gazelles stood on edge watching.
Further into the park we got to watch two zebras lovingly fighting.
We had a picnic in the park under a tree and walked up a hill to view the whole park.
We stopped at a hotel for a toilet break and didn't get to see a lot of action on the afternoon as it as hot hot hot. So we returned back to our luxury tents, round the camp fire, food and bed with an amazing thunder storm in the distance.xx
