Well i might not have much of a tan left, but i do have a pretty impressive, yet disgusting blister to show for the time in Koh Phangan.
Day 13 - Currently in Phuket City/Town, Southern Thailand, and not a lot is happening. Staying in Phuket Backpackers, and everywhere is shut, the smell of Bangkok is back (Carrie binned her ice cream it was that bad), and people are sat inside watching a film.
The full moon party is where its at dawg!!! Amazing. Well worth the wait, just wish the same could be said about the Khao Sok National Park jungle stay. The seriously long transfer from Koh Phangan (Boat - Wait - Bus - Wait - Bus - Wait - Bus) was topped off with terrential rain when we arrived - expected though, it is the rainforest after all?. It'll be over in a few hours we thought, but it rained, and it rained and it rained. So we went to bed at 8pm to find we had a bat in one room and frogs in the other....and the rain continued. We woke up at 8am ready for the elephant trek, but even that didnt get the go ahead.
An event which happens every three years caused the river to rise rapidly and burst its banks. The car was brought back from the higher ground and we had 30minutes to leave, so back to the bus stop and off to Phuket a day early.
Not to bad as we were already half way there, until the half bodge jobs the Thais do at any oppurtunity had backfired, and the through road has collapsed. So the 2 and half hour bus journey we took the day before had to be completed in the opposite direction, followed immediately by a 5hour journey in almost the same direction to Phuket, crammed into a mini bus. So here we are in Phuket City. Well im going to bed cause im bored, tired, annoyed, and nursing a sore throat, blister and mouth full of ulcers....and want a decent meal at nandos followed by a nights sleep in my own bed, not snoozing on a mini-bus until my head falls to the side....Tomorrow can only get better...but Carrie and Emily are fine!
James.
