Day 31 - and the first update in a pretty long time, and we havent half been busy.
So we were in Phuket City, Southern Thailand last time, wasting our days wandering the streets or watching films.
Carrie showed us, and everyone else on the boat her iron stomach, and croissant she had for breakfast, as we crossed the Andaman Sea to Phi Phi Islands. So we spent four days on Phi Phi Islands, with the last night camping out on Maya Bay, where the film 'the beach' was set. Expecting a couple of boat loads of us, there turned out to be seven, but an excellent night it was. Seriously hungover and covered in sand we took the boat from Phi Phi Le (Maya Bay) to Phi Phi Don and checked into a hostel, unable to stomach the 2hour boat ride to Krabi.
20th July we headed Ao Nang, Krabi, where we stayed for three nights. The elephant trek through the forest was good, even if the enjoyment was dashed half way when the guide hit our elephant on the head with a hammer...10foot of the ground it put us on edge, especially when it started scratching its arse on a rock. We took a long tail boat over to Railay Beach East.....pretty nice, but the highlight has to be on the way back. We climb off the boat into knee-deep water, and still we do not know what Carrie was trying to do. Surely get one foot down and get yourself steady. Carrie, actually rolled over the edge in an Army style and was flat on her back in the sea with her bag filling up with water and a boat load of people thinking what the hell is she trying to do. Ahhaha.
So we landed at 3pm on the 23rd July in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We settled down on the airport seats, layered up to beat the air-con, and waited for our flight to Borneo at 7am on the 24th. For me the 16hour wait went pretty fast, but Carrie tossed and turned, got annoyed, ATE THREE MCDONALDS and fell to sleep in there, then off to Borneo we went, with the excitement of Turtle Island.
Touchdown in Borneo, and unbeknown our temporay parents, the taxi couple, would pick us up from the aiport, Suzie and Abdul. In Borneo i noticed the problem with having an international name, and we also witnessed the problem with being WHITE. "James You OK". "James Try This" "James You Want To Do This" "James Dont Be Embarrassed To Eat" (I aint, just your husband is eating with his fingers and the food stinks!!!). I almost forgot Carrie was with us. So, Carries Turtle island dreams were dashed as it was fully booked, but our new parents took us to the Orangutan Sanctuary, Gomantong Caves and a River Cruise, before buying us dinner....and then asking if we will do the same when they come to England...Lets be honest, there never gonna be over. They asked if England was like Borneo? Free your mind. So we experienced for the four days what it was like to be famous, heads turned constantly as we walked and kids just kept asking for money.
So we left Borneo on the 28th and headed back to Kuala Lumpur, where we are now. We spent the first day on a sight seeing bus of Kuala Lumpur, which to be honest came pretty tedious after two and a half hours. Carrie finally had the chance to touch a shark in the Aquarium, even if it was a baby, sleeping Bamboo shark...but a sharks a shark eh? And today we've been to Kuala Lumpur Tower and Petronas Towers at 6:15.
Tomorrow we leave Malaysia for our last stop Bali. Fingers crossed the flight will be steadier than that coming back from Borneo cause there was some serious clammy hands at that turbulance.
And its only 12days till we're home. This isn't good. Try sort the weather out for us?
