Hi all! Well, Hong Kong was absolutely awesome. (I have to admit, the best bit was seeing my cousin and her hubby and baby girl, but i wont ramble about that - just explaining some of the photos!)
We did quite a lot, saw another big buddha, went to temple street night market, went up the peak on a tram so steep coming down it looked like buildings around you were falling on you! The view of HK at night tho was stunning. (And for any forrest gump fans - we ate at bubba shrimp, i hadnt heard of it before, but was awesome shrimp!)
On my last day of being 20 we went over to macau, which was a mission in itself - its like HK, its own... 'place' (dont know really what you would call it) but you have to go thru customs, so we now have many, many passport stamps! (I was so nervous cos they went on and on about the swine flu, searched our passports for hints of mexico, had temperature scanners and health delaration forms...and there i was clutching my tissues n sneezing on everyone! Bloody typical!) Ha ha. But Macau is worth seeing. Its somwhere between france and vegas (well, really its portegeuse, but having never been to portugal, i saw france!). We did some gambling, lost 20 quid at blackjack but had great fun doing it - the croupier would look at us with pure shook and chuckle when we risked a dodgy hit!! Lol.
Oh, and the revolving restaurant at the top of the macau tower...most confusiong restaurant iv ever been to!!! You would get up and get food (from the buffet) and go back to your table...and it wouldnt be there! Also you seemed to be getting further away from buildings you seemed to be turning towrds....it literally took us till the end of the meal to figure ot that the outside glass, and central buffet stayed still, and just the strip of tables turned!!! (Plus u had ppl bungee jumping from just above you!)
On my birthday, i dragged mike to the beach in the day, then in the evening we got the star ferry over to kowloon to watch the 'symphony of lights'. Very cool. Little speakers announce it, ('...symphony of lights, in the guiness world record...let us intorduce the buildings...'etc) and then they flash and have lasers etc to the music. (They're big on these here, in Macau there was a fountain that lit up and danced to music - its great, free entertainment!) Anyways, we then had a, ahem, very expensive meal, and went out for a few drinks.
The last few days we did the happy valley races (more gambling, i no, its worrying!) and the longest escalater in the world (its a big escalator, not quite as fun as it sounds - and you have to walk back down!!) And were then torn away from our new found heaven, lol. We had such a great time (even if we did, errr, spend a quarter of our years budget in the first month, ooops!) Ha ha
Well thats it, gotta go cos its 11.20pm here n im about to get chucked out the web cafe. We are in Thailand now, with monsoons and frogs, but more on that next time...(its like writing a soap teaser!! ha ha)
Hope you are all well, keep the messages coming, i cant reply to them directly but love reading them! Lots of love xxxxx
