Hoi An - 10th - 19th November
So we arrive in Hoi An, the place known for custom made clothes!!! Dangerous!! As we had already booked our accommodation from Hue for Hoi An, no problems with an easy check in to our guest house. Than Binh on Le Loi Street. In the centre so easy for us to get around and see the sights, Probably too much to say about Hoi An as this was definitely our best place so far, very pretty, boats and rivers, beautiful beach, markets, custom made tailors and not forgetting the best part of if all "Messi's Bar". We first went here on our second night for dinner, we were drawn in by the loud music!! So we order dinner R Tuna with tomatoes and onion and T good old traditional fish and chips with tartar sauce. Our dinner arrives and T is not happy to get no tartar sauce, so T says: Where is my tartar sauce? waiter comes back and brings out sweet and sour sauce, ummm still not right. T is not happy, so T says again: 3rd time he brings out sweet chilli sauce. Aaarrrrggghhhh.... 4th time I get given ketchup, but no tartar sauce!! By this point my food was cold and was angry!! The owner Messi couldn't apologise enough and discounted T's meal by 50% + a free fruit salad. T was feeling a little bad!!! We enjoyed the rest of the night in Messi's Bar and danced the night away with some great people Eva, Donna, Rueben and Pete!! So the start of a bad night become the best place ever!!! The three off us (RAT & Messi) built up such a great friendship!! We spent many days together.
Gare bana in bana hills 1335,51m km: 5,042/5,042 Cable Car - Highest mountain in Vietnam. Our day started around lunch time with a tasty pizza from Messi's Bar. Messi had arranged for his friend to drive us, about an hour and a half away!! So we arrive WOW OMG... It's huge!!! The only way up is by cable car. Took us about half hour to reach the top, then had to hop on another cable car for another half hour to get to the peak. The top was amence, struggling to breath, very misty being amongst the clouds!! Views were incredible! Had a walk around spent about an hour at the top and then headed back down by cable car.
Day at the Beach. 2 Ways to get there either Lazy way Taxi or ride a bike. R not so keen on the latter, been too long for her. T not keen on lazy taxi, so we toss a coin!! The bike it is: hahahahahahah lol so R steps on. A few wibble wobbles she nearly comes off. T laughing her head off behind, shame T didn't film it. Definitely a U-Tube moment. So we arrive after a 20minute ride, one straight road so was really easy. Beautiful crystal clear waters, sandy beach HEAVEN!! RAT thought, beautiful day why not relax and do nothing on the beach. Yeah right!! No joke, continuously constant every half hour or so the Vietnamese ladies would be trying there luck to sell you anything. From: hats, jewellery, fans, postcards, food, drink, cards, magnets. You name it they have it, or if they dont have it, they will sure to find it for you. So.. R buys a fan and 2 ankle bracelets and T 2 purses and an ankle bracelet. Mistake, when you buy from one, the next lady makes you feel so bad that you have to buy off them... No No. No more!!!
Re-Treat Cafe - spent a few day's here eating the good food with great prices!! Before we discovered Messi's Bar/Restaurant. Before and Now Bar/Restaurant was another good place to be, was the first bar to open in Hoi An and is Now still one of the busiest bars!! Salsa Club another party night for us, RAT was the DJ in the club selecting our own choice of songs!!
Market Day: A quiet stroll along the river heading towards the market. A lady accosted us and shouts out Pedicure for 1dollar, happy days!! Ok we say, so we get taken through the market stalls to her stall. She sits us down and starts the pedicure, definitely not the best pedicure we have had but then you do get what you pay for. What do you expect of 50pence ah!! That was the end of it: After the pedicule R gets pushed on to a bed where they start a massage and another lady is scrapping her feet. Trapped isn't the word. T had a facial of which was the worst eva, in fact was horrible and had to ask the lady to stop!! The pain begins for R - they start weaving her armpits, screams, legs kicking. Was uncontrollable!! In the end they shoved a book in her mouth to shut her up!! 3months they say, no hairs will grow back. Uuumm yeah right, all lies!!! Many dong later, we got stung!! Only went for a pedicure!!!
SHOPPING: Uuummmm too much, far too much!! RAT just couldn't help themselves, to say the least we got a little carried away. A few trousers, shorts and dresses - custom made. You see something you like, they tell you to try: so you try and it doesn't fit, so they measure you, and say " Same Same but Different" OR " Same Same but Better" It's great and such bargain prices. The best part for T anyway was the custom made shoes: As T is a size 2, she really struggles to get any shoes that fit properly unless they are kids!! So T's choices are limited so when she saw the custom made shoes... WOW T was the happiest person, brown sandal's - fit like a glove!!
Our last day in Hoi An was very sad. Spent the day in Messi's Bar for one last good meal, before it was time to catch our sleeper coach to Nha Trang. Sad goodbyes from all!!
