After be picked up from our hotel we finally arrived at the train station 45 minutes later to depart on our train to Chiang Mai!! When looking at the tickets for which platform we needed, we discovered that we were at opposite ends of the carridge - (T in seat 1 R in Seat 27!!!) Marvellous!! AFter finding our platform we boarded the train and awaited departure time of 7.35pm, only an hour and half to wait!!! Better to be early than late!!
Train finally departed station at 8.15pm - this was due to a huge thunder and lightning storm!! Brilliant!!!, what a great start, on a train line with lightning overhead!! After what seemed an eternity.... we finally arrived at Chiang Mai station at 11.30am the following day - 16 hours later!!!!!!! Note to self - will fly nxt time!!!!
Got picked up at the station and met 4 guys from England staying at the same place as us, Cool!! They are also heading onto to Laos!! Got booked in and taken to our room, not quite the Viengtai, but very adequate all the same, hot running water and little balcony!! V. Quaint! Tonight we have been to see the Thai Kick boxing tournament, we opted for VIP tickets front row seats - bonus!!!! 8 fights in all - started at nine finished at 12.00pm - we saw the most stunning Thai girls you have eva seen then....realised they were Lady Boys!!!! How do they look so amazing!! Rolled in at 2.30am - v. early night for us!! ha ha
Sunday 19th - Elephant Training centre, Monkeys, Snakes and Baby Tigers - Ah Bless!!
We left our hotel at 12.35pm and went straight to the Elephant training centre, it was amazing!! they painted pictures, played football, bowed, bathed in the river, they are beautiful - we are in LOVE!!! then we went onto see the snakes show, where R held a baby snake, and kissed a python!!!!! T was a little scared especially when they threw a rope into the audience that looked like a snake!! Candid camera moment!! After this we went to see the monkey show, and this was fab the monkey, climbed trees, slam dunked basketballs, did sit ups, press ups, rode a bike and more!! Fab - R did feel a little sorry for them being chained up tho - she must toughen up!! ha ha!!! Then after this we were taken to the Baby Tiger santuary where we were able to hold and play with the Tigers, altho they were very sleepy and dozy!! Got some fab pics which have been loaded up onto the blog so enjoy!!
we are off to do a Jungle trek tomorrow, 2 days and 1 Night, we will be bathing in waterfalls, riding on Elephants, bamboo rafting and sleeping in a local tribal village!! Can't wait!!
