Well today has been magical! We got to the port about 8 and boarded at 8.30. We reached our island by 9.15 and it is just beautiful. I don't think Fliss and I quite believed our eyes when we saw where we would be spending the night! You are able to walk around the island in 3 mins, it is tiny! We were greeted by a group of Fijians dancing, singing and playing the guitar. We found ourselves two sun beds and set up camp for the day! The sea is clear blue! We swam in the sea for a while and then sunbathed! Lunch was served at 12 and was lovely! It was a BBQ with salad and fruit! There can't be more than 100 people on the island today! Whilst we were having lunch a group of Fijians performed some dancing and sang some songs! This afternoon we went snorkelling which was lots of fun. By the afternoon the wind had got up so it was very choppy but we were still able to see lots of fish! I freaked out about being in the ocean so I held onto the boyouncy aid for a while until I mustered up the courage to let go! What a pansy! Getting back onto the beach was a bit of a palaver! I was washed ashore and cut my knee open (it was just a graze so wasn't as dramatic as it sounds!) and fliss got caught in a rope and decided it was easier to just lye there until someone came to save her, fortunately a lovely Fijian man came to her rescue. This afternoon we met a German guy called Hanno who has been living in Germany for the past few months doing a medical internship. He wrote down a list of things for us to do in Auckland which was lovely. This evening we had a beautiful dinner on the beach! At this point there was only about 18 people left on the island! Tables were layed as if we were at a restaurant. We met 4 girls who lived in and around Bracknell much to fliss's delight! Go to a little island in Fiji and meet people from your same town! I tried a Fijian bitter and fliss had a cocktail. We were briefed about times for the following day but were reminded that we are now in Fiji time so things tend to run late! This island is like being in paradise! We were in bed by 9.30! Granny's!
Sea spray adventure tomorrow!
