Where do I start... We have had the best last couple of days.
Monday started out early, getting on the tour bus to Niagara Falls at 9:30am. It's was about an hour and a half bus ride to the falls. First stop we went up to the Skylon tower which is 775 feet above the falls. The view was amazing but so freaking cold! We could only stay up there about 10 minutes (not to mention that it was a -14 degree day). Getting back on the bus to head down to the falls for a few hours was awesome. The falls are nothing like what I thought it would be. It was amazing seeing the bridges crossing into America and the 2 flags dividing them. After eating lunch in front of the falls and overhearing a family domestic talking about sending there son away to military school it was time to get back on the bus… Next stop, Niagara on the Lake. The drive there is beautiful driving all along the outside of the lake. The houses along the way are AMAZING, let's just say if we won the lotto we would defiantly be buying a house there. Oh and as the tour guide points out we go though the ONLY roundabout in Toronto, which is really weird because we didn't even notice there were none until then haha. Coming into the town everything is persevered like it was back in the old times. Having no commercial fast-food chains or anything along that nature in the town. We got to spend some time in the town; being that mostly everything is down one main street we got time to see all of it. There is a hotel there called The Prince of Wales, apparently it is super haunted by the soldiers of the cold war. Well apparently the whole town is haunted but we were not lucky enough to catch anything on camera! Boo. The last stop of the day was to small winey only minutes away where we got to try the famous Ice Wine. It is pretty expensive, $35 for 200ml but it was so good we got ourselves a bottle. By this time it was about 5:00pm.... heading back on the bus for another hour and a half ride back home. Getting into our hotel around 6:30pm we were super tired having a light dinner then bed.
Tuesday was a relaxing day. Started with a long sleep in and a late lunch. Next door to our hotel is a small movie theatre. Perfect timing to see a movie as it was $5 Tuesday! The cinema was tiny and totally reminds you of those really old school cinemas you see in really old movies, was awesome. Got some nachos and popcorn too ^_^ Oh and we saw Identity Thief which is hilarious, highly recommend it. After the movies we went over the road for some dinner... well Liam got breakfast for dinner oh and spilt his cup of water everywhere... It was awkward.
Today we go up early to get on the 10:00am hop on hop off tour bus. First stop we made was number 7 - Casa Loma. Casa Loma is a massive castle on top of a hill where Sir Henry Pellatt (Canadian financier and soldier) used to live in the early 1900's. Being so old and apparently haunted I set out on missions to catch something on camera haha. Going through the castle was amazing. You get to go through secret tunnels in Sir Henry study and also go up about a million (creepy) stairs to the top of the towers. Also down to the wine cellars, the massive libraries and down the 800 ft. tunnels to the horse stable and pottery garden. These tunnels are creepy, cold and not well lit at all. I swear I caught something on camera but Liam begs to differ :( haha. Some more interesting information we found out was that some famous movies where filmed there. For example - X-Men (Liam pointed it out while we were walking around the castle), The Vow, Love Guru, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and the Pacifier.
After 2 hours of exploring we got back in warm bus and headed down to the ROM - Royal Ontario Museum. Yes, we went to a museum! Haha. The coolest part was the dinosaurs of course, but I did enjoy the textile and costume parts and the bat cove. I think Liam's favourite part was the food hall eating cupcakes :P haha joking! Another 2 hours went quickly and it was time to get back on the bus. Stoping again down at Dundas Square which is super close to our hotel so we could walk down to Wild Wing. The greatest wing join we have ever been too. Ordering a mountain of food and demolishing it in 2 seconds flat. Walking quickly back to our hotel around the corner because it is FREEZING cold, about -5 today. Liam just went down and got some coffees to warm us up.
Early to bed tonight, another big day tomorrow!
