Well I've just realised it's been months since I last updated this blog, and there's not long left here now. It's been hectic with people leaving and jobs finishing, seems like we've only been here a week.
March came and went. Lovely Lari came to visit me and all was right with the world for a brief couple of days. We had a couple of days on the mountains together, went Tubing (YEY) and queued for some clubs! We were lucky enough to catch a Paralympic event - The Mens X Country Final - when she got here, many thanks to Lilly for getting us some tickets for that.
I'd been taking it easy for a week or so before Lari got here. I was riding out after work one day and managed the old trick of catching an edge on an icy cat-track. I was going a bit too fast and catapulted myself onto my front, landing on my tucked arms. I heard this massive crack and winded myself - first time ever guys!! - I was a bit shaken up but continued to ride down after a breather. When I reached the bottom the pain kicked in and I had no choice in getting a lovely ride to the Docs. A couple of XRays later the Doc confirmed I'd probably broken rib #11 (nothing serious) but had some kidney damage which had caused some internal bleeding. Quite a fall eh! I had to keep going to the Docs every 2 days for over a week to make sure the damage was subsiding. Luckily it was and I was back on my feet super quickly, much down to the help and chocolate provided by some pretty amazing mateys I have to say. I'm a very lucky lady. I pretty much forced myself to heal quickly and ran back to work with bells on in record time, just in time for Lari to arrive :D
In March I also managed to squeeze in a trip to Vancouver and see some sights. Twas a gorgeous weekend, definitely picked a good sunny day for lazing round Stanley Park. Chars to Stu for keeping us company and providing entertainment with yet more doses of possible food poisoning.. :P
April brought my first ventures to both Buffalo Bills, Dustys and a proper night out at Garibaldi Lift Co. Dusty's was lovely. Laura Lloyd Clara and I rode through the mud at the bottom of Creekside to enjoy food and beers on the patio on yet another lovely day. I love Whistler!
9th April was my last day at the Castle before it closed at the weekend. 16th April was my last day at the Treefort, though I think it's fair to say the last couple of days were spent on more "ride-breaks" than anything else! I even got to finish at noon on Friday. Im going to miss work, it's rare I jump out of bed at 6.30am and look forward to an 8hour shift. It was very cool having that feeling for a couple of months, so thank you ETC for making being part of the Extreme Terrain Crew an unforgettable experience. Long live our Heated Hut hands.
So this leads me to Sunday 18th April, 2010. Quite possibly the best day of the season, and oddly enough it didn't include any snow. Clara, Laura, Lloyd, Graham, Lilly, Amy, Lifty Ben and I all dug deep and stumbled across some previously unseen courage - for me anyways. The day started with Me, Laura, Lloyd, Lilly and Clara taking a trip to find the Lost Lake in Whistler. Again, the sun was shining and we found a floating barge to chill on for a couple of hours. The tunes were playing, sunbathing was in full swing, and it was most definitely the calm before the storm.
